Sold car privately, now buyer wants his money back
My daughter sold her Corsa 1.0 2002, , car was sold as described, it has 6 months tax and 12 months MOT, full service history 2 lady owners.
She is not a mechanic so as far as she is concerned, car runs well, has no problems,
they prospective buyer came had a good look , checked the car all over, my daughter drove the car for him on the test drive, they agreed a price and deposit taken.
5 days later, buyer collects and pays the remainder.
Phone call off him later that day, he complains that
1. Near side front suspension mounting loose
2. Loss of coolant after short drive
3 Engine appears noisy again after short drive when engine is warm
car was sold as described, it belonged to my daughter her name was on v5
he could have had a mechanic check car, he chose not to do this
i believe it is his responsibility to check these things out before he pays for car?
He wants a refund, or will seek legal advice
as i understand a private sale is sold as seen, buyer beware

Let him seek his legal advice, it won't get him anywhere as long as the car was described honestly.
The fact he inspected the car before buying will also go against him.Always try to be at least half the person your dog thinks you are!0 -

Totally no comeback.
Tell your daughter to enter in to no further correspondence with the buyer of the car.0 -
Tell him to shove it.0

By buying such an old car he should expect problems, if he wanted a faultless car he should have bought a much newer one.0

I think you knew the answer to this before you posted.
Tell him to google "buyer's remorse".0 -
They have bought a 12 year old car and it has some faults as expected. Tell them to jog on. If they want a top notch car with no faults then buy new.0
