Treacle-Toes, we too found it cheaper to come off of the Economy 7 as the day units were charged at a higher rate than if we hadn't got Economy 7 and seeing as I didn't use my washing machine or dishwasher overnight (would worry in case of a fire) it made sense to change tariffs. I hope you find a better tariff.

Had some upset at the Dr's yesterday which wiped me out so I spent most of the day in bed. After being told by 2 previous DR's and the Rheumatologist that I have CFS fibromyalgia, I went in and asked for a letter confirming that so I could send it off to the DWP (to see if I can be put in the Support Group), only to have the Dr tell me it's not possible to have CFS diagnosed by anyone other than a Neurologist so he can't confirm that's what I have! i waited 3 months for an urgent rheumatology appt. and then when we went through the various tests that had been done, we found a report by another GP at the surgery who had carried out a rheumatology blood test (not sure what they test for) and the consultant said it had co e back negative showing in all likelihood I don't have RA. I left the surgery in tears as I was made to feel like I was just being an inconvenience in wanting this letter written and he can't/won't confirm what it is I have.

I appreciate there are people who play the system but I have held down a full time job for the last 26 years and would love to be able to go back to working but at the moment I just can't manage it, too much pain/fatigue etc and the Dr yesterday implied I just needed to 'get on with it', if I could 'get on with it' believe me, I would!

Today will be another NSD day and hoping that will be the case until the weekend. A lovely chicken casserole will be cooked in my thermal cooking bag and will have it with either mash or boiled potatoes.

Hope you all have a lovely and OS day :D

    Hi

I went through all this to get my fibromyalgia CFS diagnosis. The Neurologist just said that it had nothing to do with him as it is muscles and tendons. I went to a Rheumatologist in 1994 as I have arthritis in my knees and hands, but Fibro was just the blanket term that was used to say there was nothing they could do for me. Ask the Rheumatologist's secretary for a letter saying what his diagnosis is, that will speed things up.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply, they make you feel like it's all in your head and imagining the whole thing! So sorry to hear you too have CFS Fibro. According to the NICE document on CFS Fibro it can be diagnosed by your Dr, maybe I just have one who doesn't believe it exists!

I will contact the Rheumatologists secretary and get her to send me the letter asap.

Mos you are not alone in your struggle to get fibro diagnosed properley, doctors are still in denial about it but after seeing a good friend struggle with it until she got a wonderful new gp my heart goes out to you.

Nsd yesterday but going out for an hour with Oh today, he wants bulbs for the front garden so I guess I will be planting bulbs tomorrow :p Need to stock up on a few bits of nibbly stuff for him as his appetitie is poor.

Put 32 items on fleby yesterday - my brain was fried when I hd finished but its looking good already. Its amzing what sells, I still sit in wonder at the random items that fetch money :T

Off to make brunch before we go rather than eating out, places dont cater for low carb anyway apart from fried breakfast and it gets boring.

MOS so sorry about what you have to be going through. It is unfortunate that you need the diagnosis for benefits purposes, otherwise I'd advise you to let them go to hell and stuff themselves, and find a good herbalist.

I have had the same stuff but with IBS, no matter how much I complained about problems in the stomach and liver area, for years. Then I got in touch with the student clinic of a University course in Herbal Medicine and they have been my absolute salvation. So there might not be a diagnosis as such but they treat me as the whole person that I am and not a collection of symptoms.

After reducing some food items and removing other ones I also started feeling better. Then I let it slip and stuff started happening again.

My current GP (much better than the ones I had before) sent me for tests, scans etc and still nothing showed, but I went back to the herbal clinic and they have helped a LOT.

I hope you find a way, be persistent and be a pain. Remember that you have worked for 26 years so you are not getting FREE health care, you have PAID for it with your work, and you should be entitled to be looked after properly. They forget, when they say that it is free, that people pay for it with their deductions. It is the governments and the management and administration that squander the money, that's why the NHS is skint!

    Rant over, sorry!

Ok, here is my OS plan today.

After working with the baby since 7am I am finally home, doing a bit of home admin, but next will be chopping wood with DS. Could not do it yesterday because of the rain so we are determined to finish it today.

I have contacted a charity to come and pick up the furniture that we are giving away, tick another box.

Then after lunch a bit more time to be dedicated to paperwork, then time to pick up the boys from the coach stop.

Tonight after I leave the boys I have an appointment to see another family for some babysitting, this is a real BABY! Very excited as I love babies, much more fun than horrid toddlers! This morning the 3 year old sister of the baby I am helping with told her mum that I smell - thanks goodness the mum was suitably embarrassed and made her apologise. For a moment I thought I MIGHT! But the mother said that she had said the same to her granny. I never warmed to toddlers in my work, it would have to be a very special little one for me to take on, if someone offered me a job with a 2 to 4 years old. Or I would have to be desperate. Different if I work with someone from babyhood, they become toddler eventually but by that time I got to know them so it would not be so bad. But I have NO INTENTION! to take up a permanent nannying job, other than the odd school pick up, so no danger there hehee.

Hope you have a good OS day.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Another kitchen wall is in the process of coming down as I type :) but the mess prevails and is getting worse

I have my combi-oven and slow cooker plugged in upstairs, that's a new one for me - cooking in the bedroom :p

DS is asleep (how???) and when he wakes I will go out for a few hours to get out of the house, this will result in a few £'s being spent but it's in the interests of my mental health so money well spent I'd say!! I shall go and have a mooch through the charity and pound shops of my local big town :) and I may even treat myself to a Subway lunch :)

DH is working until 10pm so depending on the state of the house after the builders finish today, which to be fair is usually pretty good, I shall try to unearth my sewing machine and finish a floor / receiving blanket for a friend who is due in a week - nothing like a deadline eh??!!

  • Thank you all for your kind words, I know CFS Fibro are difficult areas for the NHS and i didn't expect it to be easy but after all this time I thought they might have accepted the diagnosis (the GP that is). I have however, had a call from the DWP this afternoon. I had sent them a letter explaining my symptoms, limitations etc as they said I could write if it was difficult to get a GP letter, I then had a call from them last week saying they really needed some 'proof' from the GP (hence all the trouble I have had with them) but when the man rang back today and I confirmed the RA specialist had said what it was he said 'I don't think it will benefit anyone to drag this out further so based on the evidence you have given us and the confirmation from the consultant I am happy to put you in the Support Group for 12 months', more tears today but happy ones. I can't tell you how relieved I am that someone finally believes me! :D

It has been awful weather here today, high winds and torrential rain so I am sat here snuggled up under my croched blanket, I love it but the kids hate it sooo much that they threaten to burn it! it keeps me warm :o

DH has had an awful day, bless him, he works so hard and most days does between 10-11 hours work which is very physical as its delivering stationary supplies and he quite often has to lug boxes of paper about so he will be pleased to come home to chicken chasseur served with mash and lots of veggies, oh and mustn't forget the bucket of tea! :rotfl:

Caterina, like you babies are by far my favourite out of all the child stages. Oh a lovely snuggle with a tiny baby would make my day, there is something so wonderful about the smell of a baby.

    Hello Jem132,

I would be happy to help if you tell me what you want to make. I have no nutritional training and nobody is allowed to give health advice on this forum, but I make a lot of my own food from scratch, so if you need some ideas please feel free to ask.

Well, today has been a nice OS day, the day started with the babysitting across the road, then breakfast with DS.

It went on with a massive shopping at the market, with also a small forage in sainsbugs, total cost £13 and now we are seriously stocked up. 3 huge salads, really fresh, £1! Same quality as the bagged salad in w8rose they they sell for £2 and only lasts 2 meals.

Lunch and dinner prepared, then work with the boys. After dinner I met a lovely young Italian family who need an occasional nanny in the daytime and babysitter for a few outings a month. I have the job, pending references. Nice little earner and delightful baby girl, 8 months old!

Sleepy time now as tomorrow and Saturday are two more early risers. My, am I looking forward to a lie-in on Sunday!

    Good night all.

    Good morning,

No posts for a couple of days, busy life!

I have finally registered as self employed with the inland revenue for my mystery shopping activities, they are few and far between but I will be able to pay class 2 NI contributions to top up my pension, I thought I missed only one year but now they want 35 years apparently.

Anyway I shall stay self employed until I have topped up my pension and then will take it from there. But it also means that I can take more assignments without worrying about getting fined. So I have started registering with companies and will see what comes of it.

Still waiting for the woman from across the road to call me, honestly I can't wait for this job to be over and done with, I don't mind in the least picking up and looking after the baby, but she could be more considerate about my time, not chop and change. I have been awake since before 7 waiting for her call. Mind you, am still in bed sipping tea and playing on the iPad! So when she calls she will have to wait until I get dressed.

Last night I went for a mystery dinner with DH and ate too much.

Today will see me try to start a better way of eating, not a diet, something sustainable. I have put on so much weight in the last few months, really upsetting and unhealthy too.

Then more registering with companies for mystery shopping then probably just potter around, not doing much. I am very tired and need a day or two of total break. Also hoping to have a NSD today, I had one yesterday too.

    Have a good OS day.
