  • Thanks,

I just googled it and it is 2300 - 0700 GMT for my area, so that's midnight until 8am at the moment.

Thanks for giving me the kick to find out.

    Good evening,

Treacle Toes and Minihauk welcome both to the thread, of course you can join, I am so pleased to see you both here and hope to read your contributions.

Greenbee I am having garden envy (in the best possible way) reading about your garden!

Today was not a NSD because of two things:

1 - I had forgotten that the car needed fuel, but luckily Sainsbugz has lowered the price of diesel to a reasonable 126.9p, and I used the 123 card for 3% cashback, and collected a few Nectar points too. Only half filled it so if a better deal comes up I can top up. And got a £3 off a £30 spend voucher in Sainsbugz in the process.

2 - The student herbal clinic that I attend has reopened after the summer holidays and sent me a text that they had an appointment today at 2pm and the next one would be in 2 weeks. As I really needed to see them (stress, hormons etc) for my medicine, I took it up. Luckily when I got the text at 1 pm I was only minutes away from where the clinic is. I had a good consultation with an older gentleman who was very kind and very thorough. It made me wonder, he must have been in his 60s and he is retraining as a medical herbalist. Probably he is already a therapist of sorts. At the end of the consultation he came out of the room especially to say goodbye, and said some very kind words. I was really moved.

Anyway, the whole day has been really good. I got the two lots of free tickets, then got a Reverbe (roadkill) £1 in the road, then got the herbal appointment, the sun shone all day, I walked a lot, had a great time with my friend and we used up the freebie voucher for tea and cake.

Then I called a beauty counter in a department store where I have some prepaid haircuts due (long story, great bargain) and asked them for an appointment. They have one tomorrow!

So my grey roots will be even more visible once I remove the bulk off my hair. Who cares, I am growing my hair grey, I am fed up of tinting, always having to beg the trainees for an appointment, being at their beck and call, chopping and changing at the last minute. My hair does not take well to bottle colour, too resistant, so only professional tinting works on it. But I am fed up and DH could not care a fig what colour hair I have (provided I do not tint it something outlandish) so I have decided to look at myself to see what I look like, exactly as I am, no pretence of being younger or different from the real me.

It is quite challenging, I have to admit. I have always had a nervousness at growing older, but somehow I am starting feeling more at ease with the idea. Maybe this is what growing older is all about!

Counselling was very interesting and we had a few mini-breakthroughs which is good.

Dinner was yummy, DH is about to type a nasty letter to the yucky builders and is now making tea for both of us while waiting for the computer to be free to type (which I shall have to do otherwise he will be typing until tomorrow morning!).

    Have a good night all.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

It will be interesting to see what kind of grey you are, Caterina, a silver or a white. Either way, if kept in good condition and paired with the right warpaint and clothes, grey hair can look stunning. I'm still colouring mine at the moment, but I think when I hit the big 60 in a few years time I will let the grey shine through!

From the roots I can see it is going to be steel-like, silver if you wish, because I still have a few black hairs. More white in the front and almost black at the back.

What DH said is that provided I get a good sharp haircut he thinks I shall look ok. This means that once I finish my prepaid haircuts (2) I shall have to look into saving for proper hairdressing, as model students have often butchered my hair and it is just not worth it.

Ah well, what I save in model tints I shall invest towards proper haircuts!

Caterina my hair was always dye resistant and a colour grew out and faded in 3 weeks. When I had to give up work the colour went out the window mainly due to the arthritis caused by yers of heavy lifting but I have never looked back. Im very silver and yes as long as its neatly cut (by me) Im happy.

Minihauk Im thinking I know who you are...hey I got a stalker :rotfl:

Just applied for a stall at a Christmas craft market, dont know if they will consider me but am crossing my fingers - best tell SmileyT that she will be joining me :o we always share.

My hair is blonde on top and dark underneath in summer as the sun makes the top blonde. In winter time it has dark roots due to lack of sunshine. My sister is disgusted because although I'm three years older than her I don't have any grey hair yet. Just this weird colour changing (and completely perm resistant) stuff that is poker straight. I'm just debating if I should have it cut as I only tie it in a pony tail anyway.

Ooh, Ginny, what are you selling on your craft stall? Anything that me and the house elf may like?

Feel free to come and help.

    I also have

    1. no heating/hot water timer as a power surge killed it (due for replacement 13th Oct
    2. an open fire with a badly fitted jetmaster that needs fixing or replacing with a stove
    3. Concrete floors throughout downstairs
    4. Only 1 of 3 toilets functioning properly
    5. Ownership of a shared sewage plant supplying 5 other houses
    6. No kitchen (or not one anyone would recognise as a kitchen)
    7. No shower (and I run at least 3 times a week)
    8. Not much money having paid for new heating, new windows, new hot water tank, approx 2/3s of the new electrics, lots of tree/garden work, random bits of labour and stuff

Visitors welcome. But you have to work :)

Greenbee I'd love to help but I have a messy allotment, desperate front and back garden and a house that does not have a single room in it that's sorted and completed!

Maybe we should organise a gang of OSers going from house to house around the country, helping each other finish home/garden projects, it would be a lot quicker and I am sure a lot more fun, too!

Good luck with all you have to do.

  • Today has been a NSD (I'm not counting the £20 for the taxi last night, which technically was the early hours of today). I've been swimming twice, once was just splashing around at the family splash session - all included in my gym fee.

For lunch I had the chick pea curry that my DH wouldn't eat from last night. I think I may have to revise my plans for vegetable pasta bake on Monday as I'm not sure he'll eat it. Tonight was fish from the freezer as per my meal plan.

I'm having an early night as I didn't sleep well last night, never do if I drink alcohol in the evening. However I've pre-programmed the dishwasher and washing machine to run during my economy 7 time.

    Good evening,

GRRRR how irritating, I was going for a NSD then DH asked for a drink, at the O2 venue of all places, stupid expensive. So I had one too, just half. So one and a half pint total was £7.30. Nearly 1/10 of our monthly entertainment budget gone.

Ah well, at least the Eagles tribute band was fantastic. And free.

Am practically asleep, so good night!
