Caterina - You have spent the last few months living without a kitchen and so must have been really difficlt to eat healthily. Now you are nearly back to normal it will be much easier to have the diet you want.
I collected 3 chickens yesterday and am really excited about having them.
I have sorted out all the seeds I have and realised that I don't need to buy many more.
I'm about to make soup with tired looking veg in the fridge which will do for lunches and will help in eating less bread as I am trying to reduce my wheat intake and also my dairy.0 -
Villagelife ohh chickens, that's my dream, once we have done up all the works in the house, concentrate on the garden, remove the planter at the end and get ourselves a pair of nice laying hens.
You inspired me re. lunch, was going to have mozzarella salad but instead will make veg soup and have a green salad minus the mozzarella! Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
My mum is bundled off on the plane now so it's just me and OH now!! My motto for the week is not to spend a penny or I won't have any money to pay for my way to work!! Lol!
Mum coming kinda wiped us out money wise as we paid for a lot when she was here, glad the visiting is done now for the year!
I've done my shopping for the week now so I'm all ready to have a mini fiscal fast to myself!094 Sealed pot member! (7) €185 (8) €138 (9) €€250
Saving for our first home!0 -
Eating healthy is so difficult some day, let's hope we can all improve our diets!
A busy day yesterday, a very long story short, I have a Brother with learning difficulties and who is disabled, he lives with my step dad as my Mum passed away 10 years ago....step dad has new girlfriend (nice lady), they are away in Australia for a holiday so yesterday disabled Brother rings me as he has no hot water or heating.......que spending the whole day trying to sort out getting a plumber in, driving over to be present when the plumber arrived as Brother not comfortable with people in the house, paying the £310 Bill til my step dad gets back and then driving home and taking youngest to optician appt! I had planned it so that all I had to do yesterday was take DD to the opticians as I knew that would wipe me out for the day so today I am absolutely shattered and can only find my ear lobes that don't hurt or ache! :rotfl:
Spent the whole day resting which has helped a little but now got irritable legs and arms!
Tomorrow will be another rest day I think, good job my DH is so understanding!
I hope you have all had a wonderful day.0 -
Good evening,
tatabubbly I am sure you will manage your mini fiscal fast. Keep us posted on your progress.
MOS your brother is a lucky man to have you taking care of him. I hope you get a good rest and recuperate from the stressful day.
Another NSD today, and lots of bits and pieces done around the house.
DH and DS put the outside light on the wall, we assembled the furniture to give away, we reclaimed the living room even though still work in progress, I brought more bits and pieces down to the kitchen, DH polyfillaed the holes left by the yucky electrician. It is happening, slowly but surely, and we are glad that we are finishing it ourselves, as a family.
I have started eating a healthier diet and feel much lighter even after just one day without refined carbs in my system.
Very sleepy after all the early morning jobs, but tomorrow is a lie-in day! Good night all. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good morning,
It looks like a dry day today, even with a bit of pale sunshine so there might be a bit of laundry to be done. If it rains it can be hung on the bannister and clothes horse upstairs.
No day plan other than follow the men's directions in keeping doing up the house. I think DH is planning to start painting the kitchen walls and DS will probably help him. This leaves me with tidying, food preparing etc, as too many people painting in the same space does not work.
I was hoping in a NSD but DH remarked that all the fine paintbrushes have disappeared, so it might mean a trip to the DIY shop. Our friendly builder might pop in to finish a couple of outside jobs that he could not finish because of rain, he has already been paid for them so no expense there. (Other than he drinks gallons of coffee, but he is Italian like me so I cannot begrudge it!).
Dinner is going to be a veg casserole with root mash and use up leftover kale, simple enough.
Have a good day all. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good evening,
Update on today, things are going well with the building works. Our friendly builder came to finish the top windowsills and put the pipes back for the rainwater butt.
DH and DS started painting the kitchen walls and I made homemade granola, dug up potatoes from the garden and made large pot of mash, so I froze 2 boxes of 3 portions each, then made hm baked beans. While the men worked in the house I went shopping and got a few food bargains.
Overall a good day, also food-wise.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Hello everyone
We are week 1 into a kitchen renovation. I am pleased with the progress and I think it may be completed by Friday. I hope so, as it will save me a trip to the launderette.
villagelife - I loved keeping chickens, I had 12!!!Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
OMG Northwest1965 I am about to die of envy, our kitchen renovation took us more than 5 months and in the end we sacked the builders, we are still finishing the job ourselves! Good luck, I hope it is finished by Friday.
Boring day looming today, 3 lots of babysitting interspersed by housework and cooking, the joy, the excitement!
Not liking the torrential rain either.
Have a good day, hope it is more exciting than mine. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
A quiet day here for me today, DD at school until 10.30am and DH home about 6.30pm, just need to decide what we are having for dinner tonight?
Put our monthly gas and electric readings in last night and the bill was £64.69 so very happy, last month it was £66.99 and as that we'll known supermarket says 'every little helps'! :rotfl:
Last day of feeding a friends cat, rabbits and wild hedgehogs as she is returning home this evening, the weather is awful here and think I may have got more hay around the garden than I got in the rabbits bed!0
