We came back from a weekend in North Wales yesterday Bellaquidsin. The weather has improved for you :) I'm hoping it stays this way for a few days so I can cut the grass and stain the decking.

DS went back to school today so I did the Asda run on my own. Not quite enjoyable but not as bad as taking a 9 year old with mostly zero interest in food shopping. I also ironed the three loads of washing that I did yesterday. We went away for two and a half days. Where it all came from I have no idea!

Our new house is sorted furniture wise, so I just have to keep it clean and tidy now (and save for a new kitchen while I convince myself I can cope with the upheaval - should be about 5 years for both I reckon :rotfl: ).

I start my OU degree in October so that should keep me busy enough to stop me spending any money. Bring on the NSDs :D

Need to catch up with all this thread urgently. Just visiting hospital now rather than being an inpatient and things are getting tight as LO is due in 5 weeks. It's all fun!

    Good evening,

Very quick update as am very sleepy, not had much sleep last night and had an intense day.

Tai chi again this morning, in lovely weather in the park. My, it is so much harder than it looks!

Lunch with friend and then 2 hours accounts (my coat is now fully paid!). Then work with the boys, it was ok and nice to see them again.

Then shopping, my first food purchase of September grocery challenge, £12.71 including DH lunch sandwich, as I was trying to catch up with sleep early this morning. Nice YS stash.

Dinner was vege burger and mashed squash and spinach (YS), yogurt and HM compote. Yummy.

Am practically asleep now, good night!
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

    Good morning,

Sorry you are still unwell, XSpender, I hope you get better soon.

The other day in the park, doing tai chi, I got bitten on both ankles by some insect, and am in a lot of discomfort. Last night I had to put cortisone cream on the bites because the itch was too much. I am worried in case it was ticks, as there are deer in Greenwich park, and am concerned about Lyme disease. Maybe I ought to make a dr appointment myself.

    Today OS plan:

DH packed lunch is ready, I made it yesterday but there was no time to give it to him so he bought a sandwich, means I do not have to get up in a rush. Having a blissful cup of tea in bed now!

Then bootcamp, then a small shopping trip for eggs and if I have the time I shall get to the Turkish shop for cheap but delicious yogurt, onions and tomatoes. And allotment for lettuce and greens.

This afternoon will see me ironing at least another 4 shirts and then I hope to start volunteering in a wholefood coop not far from home, see how it goes. I like it because you can buy good quality wholefoods and organic stuff at low cost, tiny markup from wholesales, and loose, so no need for plastic bags. Will go with my fabric bags and metal boxes to get a few nuts and seeds.

I hope you all have a good OS day.

  • Hey all! It's been small spends for me, but keeping a tight reign on things! Same cannot be said about my diet, half pound on this week so I need to try harder! :D

Having a budgeting app definitely keeps me on track though! Got some good news yesterday, I will be receiving a raise of €200 per month from next pay check on (in 3 weeks!) so that will go straight towards our wedding fund... On the last stretch of savings now and the we can concentrate on getting a honeymoon savings and baby savings underway!

Every little helps! Haven't got much in the cupboards but I refuse to do a big shop this week as we will be on a mini holiday this time next week. Have some lamb defrosted so I plan on making a stew tonight for tomorrow!

Tatabubbly, good news about the pay rise, congratulations! Never mind re. weight, it will fall off again.

I am officially 1 stone heavier than last year, the lack of kitchen has taken its toll, so I am back on low carbing, the only way I can drop some weight and maintain it at a reasonable level. Problem is, it's more expensive, as grains are cheap compared to cheese and eggs, not to speak of fish. I don't eat meat so that does not affect me. I already eat lots of veg and salad so that would not change.

Incidentally, I am back from a food shopping trip, filled up the trolley with stuff and only spent £9.71. When DS helped me put stuff away he asked if I am managing to keep to budget. (£300 grocery challenge). I told him I spent less than a tenner for all that stuff and he was amazed. Frozen veg x2 packs, Linda vege sausages x 2 packs (ice land), then a dozen organic eggs (2 x £3.50) and a few bananas at sainsbugs, a scoop of lovely sweet tomatoes and a large bag of onions in the market, I have calculated that it could do 2 full days meals for the 3 of us, with a bit of bread added for the men.

On the kitchen front, the electrician is back and we used the washing machine for the first time in 4 months, using an extension lead. DS had the honour of going first. I am hanging back as not sure I want to add to the ironing mountain, which reminds me, I got to do my daily 4! Bye!
