Hope you get the rest you need Caterina
DH had a bit of a blitz in the bedroom yesterday and has also brought into use an old piece of furniture that was under our bed in the living room. We were naughty though. We decided to get some new cushions to add to the existing living room ones and ended up buying matching curtains and a new picture frame:o The curtains are thicker than our existing ones and the cushions will keep us warm on the leather sofa so will save on heating. That's my excuse and I am sticking to it:o:rotfl:
DS first full day at school so I have a friend coming in for coffee shortly, have stripped the beds, cleaned and swept the kitchen and tidied downstairs and checked the banking. I will clean the bathroom and sort out DS bedroom before I walk up to school to pick him up. I was hoping to sort out a bookcase too but may not have enough time.
I also need to take up the other pair of his school trousers which is a 2 hour job on it's own.
Spaghetti with a white bean and chorizo ragu for tea tonight for the grown ups. I have some day old GF bread I might make into garlic bread too for me and some frozen slices DH can have. DS will have something light earlier on as all reception now get free school meals.Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%

Have been MIA for a few days.
DH and I had a much needed day out together. Normally it would be walking in the Peak District but we ended up having a sunny day in Blackpool. Fish & Chips, donuts and Ice Cream:D
Anyway back to NSD. I am in the process of trying to make some things to go in the freezer for when we have our kitchen done. So far 6 portions of bolognese. Next on the list some curries.
Have had a good afternoon in the garden, dug all the beetroot and bottled it. The turnips look great too, so I need to find a recipe for them, that is freezable.Loved our trip to the West Coast USA. Death Valley is the place to go!0 -
Ahhhh Caterina, I hope you managed to get some well deserved rest of body and spirit and I hope the builders made some more headway. DH is off for a few days so we have been in the loft clearing out the toot that I have been reluctant to part with. I always think things will come in handy you see! Any way lots to go to the charity shop and some for neighbours who are like us very OS. Found some stuff that I may be able to use in another guise. I read on one of the MSE threads about turning old duvets into pillows so might try this with two duvets that I found lurking.
NSD today, in fact I love the postman today as we received a payout from an MBNA PPI claim that they originally turned down two years ago but reopened off their own back two months ago. £880 better off today:T:T:T:T
Bad news on the wight front put on a pound:( Must have been those cakes that the family forced on me yesterday:o
Off tomorrow to hit the cs to drop stuff off and also look for a comfy arm chair to replace one that nearly breaks your back. Hope to be lucky.

Good evening,
Thank you all for the good wishes. I feel better after delegating all contact to DH. I have decided to spend as much time out of the house as possible while they are here. A couple of friends have kindly offered me their homes as temporary daytime refuge so I don't have to wander from library to cafe etc... Am really grateful.
After a good rest this morning I joined DH for an impromptu lunch picnic near his workplace as the weather was so lovely. Spent £6 (ish) in w8rose but am not adding it to the GC, it was a much needed treat to escape the home situation so will file it as entertainment.
Then work, only one of the kids today and he had cricket so I spent most of the work time chatting with another mum and even the walk home was lovely in the early evening sunshine. Night babysitting also nice and easy, now home and in bed, am so sleepy!
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0 -
Good Morning
School run done and I am just having a cuppa before I crack on with todays OS plans. I didn't get as much done as I wanted yesterday but I do have a tendency to load my self up with more jobs on the to-do list than can be achieved in the time available.
Today's priorities are:
1) Put DS on the swimming lesson waiting list at as many leisure centres as possible. I am grateful that we have such good leisure facilities here
2) Clean the bathroom
3) Wash DS school trousers
4) Make GF bread in the bread maker
5) Tidy bookcase
6) Iron some shirts for DH
7) Aiming for a SFD
8) Chicken and leek pie to be made for tea

Caterina thanks, I'll have a word! I hope you enjoyed your picnic lunch yesterday.
Over the weekend I sanded down the front door, primed and undercoated and yesterday put the 1st coat of gloss on, tomorrow the 2nd coat will go on. Sorted through the shed to find said paints... what a mess, so that made me have a good throw out, amazing what a bout of temper can achieve!!
Today is cake making as the hens are still laying well and there are plenty of eggs. Washing on the line and the bedding changed so feeling good about getting my os back!

I made a good start to my OS week yesterday using up what we had in i.e a little bit off beef in rissoles and some LO cauliflower in cauliflower cheese. The ironing pile was conquered, 2 more loads of washing dried on the line, some gardening undertaken and quite a bit of crafting done. Very satisfactory.
Today is another day, not so good I'm afraid. I had to go into town on an essential errand so HAD to have lunch out. However I met DD which made it all worthwhile. We used to meet every Tuesday but nowadays she can't afford the time and neither of us can afford the money. She's OS too. It was a very rare treat.
I bought a short sleeved grey jumper so I will be able to wear a skirt I already have for the winter. I have lost some weight and still trying so the top I had is way too big for me. The skirt can be taken in but I can't do anything with the top.
I bought a very pretty pack of paper plates reduced in Laura Ashley, I haven't been in that shop for years so that too was a treat. The plates will come in handy if I want to take cakes when I visit the sick and elderly.
Tonight's dinner is Blanquette of Lamb in the slow cooker. I've used some of the Basics chops but not many so that is fairly frugal, except that I have bought some single cream to make the sauce. Another treat, and as there are loads of mushrooms in there I should be able to stretch it to two days dinners for us.
Right, treats over for one day some gardening now I think.

Off on my holidays tomorrow morning, much needed as me and the OH haven't been away since 2010!!!
It probably won't be massively frugal but we though we would treat ourselves as we've been having a stressful time at work..
Enjoy your couple of days everyone!!094 Sealed pot member! (7) €185 (8) €138 (9) €€250

Good evening,
Tatabubbly enjoy your holiday!
Bella if the urge takes you to conquer another ironing mountain you know where to come! :rotfl:
Today was a good day.
Lovely weather meant a very pleasant session of tai chi in the park, then I met with my friend, I was meant to do her accounts but said that I want to catch up with the lovely weather and can we move it to another date? She agreed, then went out to pick up a parcel while I made us a nice big salad. She needed a bit of looking after as she had been up all night attending a birth, so she was well pleased. Lettuce and tomatoes from my allotment!
Then we went to see the tall ships sailing out of Greenwich but she could not stay, as she did not find a safe free parking and did not want to risk a ticket. I stayed with another couple of friends then went shopping as DD texted me to say she was popping in for a quick dinner tonight.
So, not a NSD, £10 spent on a gate lock for our new neighbours. They very kindly allow us to use their garden gate which is on the end if the terrace to bring in building materials, but to operate it we had to break the old lock, so we are replacing it,
Then £3.09 in Sainsbugs, using 40p voucher for the soya milk and a £1 off voucher they I found by the till, someone had not bothered claiming their price difference, so I did instead! Fair amount of YS stuff and a couple of basics mozzarella, am pleased.
Going to update my GC total now then going to give DS a hand with dinner prep.
Good night. Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).0
