Pink - at the bottom of each post there are some "buttons"; to thank someone just click on the first one which says "Thanks".

    HTH.

Not going to be a good OS day as need to go shopping to get a few things. My sister booked us a day at a beauty thing for Christmas and we're going tomorrow - we'll have our hair and make up done and have some photos done! Have sorted out some clothes but found I haven't got any decent tights (only ones I have are the thick winter ones!) Can't remember the last time I wore tights as I generally wear socks because I live in trousers or jeans.

We're also off on holiday in a couple of weeks and DH has asked me to get him some new socks are quite a lot of his are getting very thin on the heels.

heavy rain here at the moment and cold. Have to go shopping for a few bits , may have probs drying washing which I needed to do but hopefully the weather will improve later. This is the first year since 1990 that I haven't had to buy school uniform and it feels strange, feels like i'm missing something. Like most of you September feels like the start of new things Just gone through wardrobe put most of my summer clothes away and freshening up my winter stuff.x

Sun shining here too and washing machine on (sorry Caterina - I was without a machine for about four weeks so know how difficult it is not to be able to 'pop' a wash on.) Hopefully the towels will dry.
Can declare a NSD for yesterday as too busy decluttering my bedroom amongst the dust - where does it all come from again?
Menu plan done for rest of month and should come in under budget although I am using up lots of stock so may be more next month.
Know what you mean about September and planning, my DD is starting uni but she is the last one so stationary sales, pencil cases and pens will become a thing of the past. Liking your plans for an active autumn/winter Caterina and reminds me I will need to plan some regular exercise to combat my busy job when retirement comes.

Right am off to preserve my lemons and prepare chilli con carne for tonight followed by a slow walk by the river whilst the sun shines, with dog of course.
    Have a good day everyone

  • Thanks joedenise, think I've managed it!!

Got my washing dry outside & OH has had interview. He thinks it went ok but won't hear the outcome until Friday so will just have to wait... Nipped to aldi and managed to only get one "additional" item, which is not too bad I suppose. Also been eating banana muffins ds & I made yesterday, which were quite yummy! One of my next jobs is to review the finances for the month as I've slightly lost track and time will be in short supply when I'm back at work from next Thursday :(. Would like to follow your example fairy3 and get a monthly plan going as think it might work better than weekly. Will maybe try 2 weeks as a start. Thanks to you all for your welcome

Hey northwest, I live in the Gulf region!! I like to keep coming on here as I found it a god send at home!!

Haven't managed to spend any actual money since Sunday but I did pay for some wedding stuff on my card (don't really count it)...

Trying to live from the cupboards ATM, told OH I want them empty before we go away on holiday and he's like  he doesn't understand that even though we have money now I can't get rid of my thriftiness!!

    Hi all,

Glad so many of you found the veg post interesting.

Pinkstar206 I hope your OH gets the job.

Today I failed miserably *shame* it was not a NSD but it was a fairly LSD, however the bulk of the spend was not for essentials (salad items for DH lunch tomorrow), but for a 500 ml pot of ice cream, which I scoffed up all by myself. I feel terrible, this sort of self indulgence is abhorrent to me, I end up loathing my lack of self control, not to speak of the "sugar drunkenness" feeling that accompany sugar binges. And the weight that I am putting back on.

One of the things I want to achieve in my simplified life is more frugal eating patterns. But on this issue I seem to fail quite badly.

Then I say tomorrow is another day, then the next day I do like that again. How can I break this vicious circle? Thank you for any suggestions.

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Just made the best chicken biryani ever, have been practising as Oh gets to sample a lot made my the talented wives of his Asian cricket friends - however Oh is sleeping deeply and I darent wake him as we have had Dgs for most of 2 days. It cost pennies to make and all out of things I had in. Nsd today :j

Hospital tomorrow so must make a snack and drink bag up later. The tea and coffee are horrible at hospitals except in the MRI suite where they have one of those pod machines - lush! Also have a weee trip out with my friends to a Cs that sells furniture as I am desperate for a new armchair - very necessary spend hopefully under £25. May have to stop for a bite to eat as the friends are moving down south at weekend - :(

  • Thanks all for comments re OH's interview, fingers crossed for good news on Friday...

Caterina try not to feel bad about your indulgence, we all do it at times. I know it sounds a bit psychobabble but can you identify any reason you felt the need to eat the ice cream? I sometimes find I've eaten loads of chocolate / biscuits / cake or whatever then realise I was maybe feeling nervous, tired, worried or just a bit off colour generally. However I guess not everyone is an emotional eater like me! Maybe there was a need to fill & the ice cream was the easiest and most available option? Anyway, just a thought. Don't make yourself feel worse by feeling bad about it though, be as kind to yourself as you would to someone else. PS

    Good morning,

Pinkstar206, ice cream is my no. 1 downfall, I cannot have it at home or I finish it. The idea was that I was going to share it with DS but he was out late, DH was also out for dinner, I was bored and mildly disgruntled and watching nonsense TV, all the ingredients for a recipe for overeating disaster. Thank you for your kind words, I have let it go now.

    My OS day today:

1 bootcamp (I have run out of excuses for not exercising!)

    2. A bit of food shopping, hoping to catch the marks YS run, in any case the only urgent item is bread, so if no YS only bread will go in my basket. These days, as I get back in touch with my inner OSer, I am exercising control over food shopping (apart from yesterday ice cream failure). It gives me great pleasure to come back home with just what I need, rather than a random shopping spree. I don't often do lists unless I have a big shop to do, as I have a running list of what's needed in my head! And I improvise according to offers and YS products. Same reason why I don't do food plans in advance.

    3. Lunch then work with my friend. On Monday I finished her accounts for last year and sent the form off to the inland revenue and prepared this year's spreadsheet. So today is the MegaTedious task of tidying her receipts in month and category order *YAWN* but it's got to be done.

Tonight DH and I need to go to DIY shop to buy the last (please God let them be the LAST, finally!) bits of wood to finish the kitchen, then order the ironmongery online. We are on the final stretch now and I am about to pack my bags and run away if it is not finished soon.

Hope you all have a good OS day and sunshine.

    Hello everyone

I start a week off work today and need to tackle so many areas of our life, that this thread has been fab to read.

Love the JM Barrie reference, DD has a part in a panto as a lost boy this Christmas, she got it from her very first audition after attending drama lessons for a year. Me and Caterina met when DD was a tiny tot, now she's 11 and a couple of weeks from starting Secondary school.

Today, I intend having a tackle of tidying up the house and hope there's 'treasures' in some form to find.:D Followed by doing a stock-take of what school uniform both kids have that is still suitable for September and a list of what else is needed.
