Spent £1.50 on bacon bits for quiche etc. Ham hock bubbling away in the sc for tea. Hopefully no further spends for a few days. Still not done the baking but no rush.

    Still loving this thread.
Today have bottled 9 jars of tomatoes from the greenhouse. Did10 another day last week. Gives me that "all is safely gathered in" feeling.Going to have a bash at Mrs LWs bread and butter pickles sometime this week as we have spare cucumbers in greenhouse and the onions in the garden have one or two big enough to use - have the rest in storecupboard so it's more or less food for free - jac.xx

Hey all! Loving this thread so I may join in!

My other half got offered a great job abroad and since then we have been mega silly with money!!! I am determined not to fritter away all our hard earned cash!!

First thing I am doing this week is to take my lunch in every day and for OH to do the same! My working week is usually Sunday to Thursday!

I've loads stocked up on ATM in the cupboards and in the toiletries so it should be easy done!!

  • Good god, I'm well and truly off the OS wagon. I dread to think how much I spent on the kids today at the shopping centre. And I didn't get one thing for back to school. Sigh.

Only a vaguely OS day for me today as after visitors yesterday my mo-jo had upped and gone.

I have made some marmalade from a tin of pre-prepared oranges.
Fairly OS as I think it works out cheaper than buying the sevilles.

I did do the ironing too and am about to water the garden but could have done so much more if I'd had any life in me.

Hello and welcome to the thread tatabubbly!

mrsmortenharket and bella don't despair of the odd slip, this is why I have started this thread in the first place, because we do have occasional slips, or even months of slips! But we are a supportive and mutually inspiring community and we can share openly here, no need for shame or embarrassment.

I am exhausted from the day with the boys, only spent what was planned in my daily fee (cinema and ice cream) so today was a NSD for me!

    Good night.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

NSD for me too today - it's a good feeling. At the weekend I need to buy undercoat to paint some internal doors, but I'm going to put it in next week's budget rather than buy it but not account for it and then wonder where the money went.

Not sleeping tonight. My head is too full of my OS plans.

I have lost some weight (by design) and am planning how to best take in some of my clothes. I have one skirt which was always too big, DD found it for me in a sale :money:but they didn't have my size so she bought a bigger one knowing I would do something with it. Well the time has come so there's a nice OS job for me.

I've been planning my finances. Monday was an NSD for me except for the visit to the chiropodist but I have been putting the money aside each week so that I could pay for that. Would you believe I forgot to take the money with me? Fortunately I had my clothing money in my bag which also is saved up on a weekly basis and was able to pay with that. I've straightened up all my accounts now and have all my little funds in a cash box which was used by my dear Mum many years ago. Now that's OS.

Tuesday is going to be an NSD day for me as I'm going to a Bible Study class in the morning and shouldn't be anywhere near any shops.

    Good morning,

    My OS plan today:

Gym workout, last one with (paid) instructor, after this I am on my own so will make the best of today, to learn the routine in depth. Then maybe I have to pay again for 1 hour in 3-4 months time to have a review but for the time being it is "free" as paid in advance for the year and I might as well take advantage of it.

Hoping to ask my friend for a laundry, DH martial arts suits need washing.

Washing up, tidying then day out, as the main builder is back in today to put the floor down. I can't stand the banging noise so will aim to spend the day doing something nice for myself without spending a fortune. Maybe go for a sauna and steam room treat, with my student card I should get it for around £10.

Then meet DH for evening out (it is my birthday), the jury is divided between picnic and free concert, or push the boat out (cocktails on rooftop pop up bar in Inner London - very trendy, followed by sourdough pizza and acoustic music in another trendy venue in a garden in East London). The first option is cheap as chips, the second one is not too expensive for a night out in the town, but will set us back around £30 each.

I have the money because I have been paid for the day's work yesterday, but the OS bit of me says go for the cheap option, the indulgent one says "go on it's your birthday, treat yourself".

Not sure which way I shall go, but will let you know!

    Have a good day.

Went for a meal out as DH birthday but planned for expense and we had set menu which is cheaper than 1 course and you get main, pud and coffee.

Otherwisw went to Waitrose and only bought bread, bacon, nectarines and bananas which were all planned for and I had free coffee and their free magazine with my card. Also helpful, considerate staff.
