PPS are easily beatable at POPLA - in post #3 of the Newbies thread there are new template appeals especially to debunk PPS' GPEOL calculation (the one that other PPCs like APCOA and AS Parking are copying now!).

And that car park has a lack of signs too.

If you have the NTK then send the template appeal from the Newbies thread (not the POPLA appeal yet unless you are at rejection letter/POPLA code stage having already appealed to the PPC).

Hello spike[and one beautiful dancing daughter:)]-

If letter was sent via UKMail or one of those[inc. RM now it's a business] mail delivery is not what it was once proud to be. Further, UKMail use no discernible postmarks, so time/location points are not known to recipients.

That was beautiful about my DD thank you! And yes. UKMail... no dates etc

I just love the idea that vertical lines on a fence constitute a marked parking bay. Where does it say in law or common sense that a parking bay need be perpendicular to a fence/kerb/any other linear feature? How many places can you think of where parking bays are at an angle to a kerb or somesuch? I know of loads!

^I know of loads also - this was what annoyed me so much.

This is the first letter I have received - It asks for driver details if not the named driver etc. Seems pretty compliant in regard to what's needed in on the form etc.

Before I type and send my appeal as per template in the newbie thread, one thing is concerning me. In that thread is a section that states:

    - If no time to 'dig out flaws' in paperwork, just use our appeal example unless your PCN was from:
X - other named examples listed THEN,

'Premier Parking Solutions' (especially re a flipped ticket at Hull Docks where you must word your POPLA appeal very carefully)
If so, please start a thread with a picture of the sign on site and don't respond to private messages offering 'help'.

Does this mean I cannot use the appeal template? Or there is something else I need to do/include before I reply.

The appeal using the template will be the first ever response/communication they have received from me.

Thanks everyone for the support. I feel positive about this now.

Not wanting to interfere with the established processes for dealing with things here, but surely it is impossible to park within imaginary markings.

Glad you have read it in depth - but you are fine to use the first template. I added PPS in that section because one person lost at POPLA when they didn't post a thread and just used a fairly generic 'no GPEOL' appeal which somehow PPS managed to convince POPLA about! So I didn't want any newbies to just copy an older POPLA appeal when they have a PPS ticket, we don't want a repeat. I have re-written the PPS POPLA templates for Hull Docks and 'Didcot opposite the station' car parks recently and I wanted to make sure everyone with a PPS ticket starts a thread so we can help make sure you win, even where it's a different car park. So you've done it all right so far.

  • Hi All.

Letter sent today by post. This is the first chance I have had to put attention to this since I posted here on the 29th. I won't bore you with details but have I messed up with the dates? It states a payment is required by 05/09/2014. I thought I had longer than this but as the letter was later than the date allegedly posted to me... I saw the date when looking for PCN number on the letter

Shall I send my appeal electronically online? I can do this tonight. Would it harm if they received it by email AND letter?? I noticed a reduced appeal template for online form filling if there's a word limit??

Thanks for everyone's help each step of the way.

Edit: They have an appeals email adress but I'd rather they didn't have my email address.

If you send the shortened version by their email form, I think it may capture your email address anyway.

I would send the one you have sent by post word for word, so do use your email address. Can you set up a throwaway email address for the purpose of communications with the PPC?
Newbie thread: go to the top of this page and find these words: Main site > MoneySavingExpert.com Forums > Household & Travel > Motoring > Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Click on words Parking Tickets, Fines & Parking. Newbie thread is the first post. Blue New Thread button is just above it to left.

Use online appeal process if they accept these. If emailing, get yourself a throwaway email addy from someone like Gmail - gobbledygook user name (as long as you remember it for logging in purposes for whenever they respond), then when it's all over just remove the email addy from your list of others; let it fill up with any junk in the ether, no need for you to ever open it again!
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Done and done. Their site states appeals can be within 28 days of their enforcement action (NTK??) or within 14 days for the discounted rate (of the windscreen ticket?). The dates on the letter they sent works out to be 14 days for payment, and is for the full amount.

Thank you all. I will update soon.

  • Update! I won!
    We won!
    You won!

Thank you all do much for all the help. They didn't bother with POPLA code and this has been success at the first appeal stage.

Makes me sick that I know many people who would have given in once the "demand" had arrived and just paid the £100.

It's a PDF so will type here.

"Further to your appeal received on 03.09.2014 in regard to the above I have now had the opportunity to review this case and my findings are below.

Having considered the content of your letter we are prepared on this occasion, as a goodwill gesture, to cancel this parking charge notice.

However, please be aware that your vehicle was not parked within the marked bay and future correctly issued parking charge notices will not be cancelled"

    AGAIN - What marked bay!?

    Thank you all!
