The charge is for your use of the entertainment facilities, not for the physical pass.

If you are using the entertainment facilities, pay the entertainment charge, which in the case of the Sun holidays goes by the name of an entertainment pass.

I too work hard, and have done so for a good many years. The only benefit that I claim is child benefit, which as a parent you get too. I would not dream of not paying the charge for the entertainment if I fully intended using the entertainment facilities.

If you cannot afford the passes there are dates when you do not have to pay for them.

This doesn't affect me but I can understand the desperation to take the kids on holiday, and being bullied into taking it in school holidays or not at all.
I don't know the situation but the eldest is 4 and my Granddaughter also aged 4 got refused a holiday.
That ended up with her sister, mother and little brother going on holiday and not her.
She had to stay at home with her Dad so she could go to School.
Luckily I'm her Granddad, and she'll get a holiday and she's booked for Felixtowe Beach 25th August.
Not grown ups favourite due the noise from the docks and dock train but it's a place she loves.

If you are not into swimming or watching the character/evening shows in the bars then the 'entertainment passes' are of no good to you. They are not compulsory to buy. If you use the facilities then buy them, if not don't!

We buy the passes for swimming. We check the prices of the local pools in the area and see which is cheaper for the mon-fri. Yep, you've guessed it the entertainment passes are!. We check out the whats on guide and see what shows we want to go to. There was a magic act that was good as was the talent show. The rest is for kids under 10.

    Hi all,
We were in butlins a couple of weeks ago not on sun holidays but the only 'passes' are the ones for jump the queue at the centre stage and the price quoted when I booked my butlins sun holiday today seems right for that privilege- there are no entertainment passes needed for anything at butlins, just room key card to get on and off beach ( sometimes) and resort plus money for bits and pieces that children beg for after watching the skyline gang ;) lol

May be worth having a look on eBay beforehand as can usually pick up butlins billy bear and skyline gang bits on there :)

This is what the passes are and £12 pppb is what the optional pass charge is showing as on my booking.

Also for swimming and skyline entry ( because most of the entertainment is in there) you don't even show your key. That's because the only people on resort are those who have paid to stay or those on day trips HTH

just a note to say we did not have the cardboard credit card entertainment passes this time at haven prestaven sands but wristbands. these were coloured to the kids age and/or adult. I hated the plastic on them.

I've been to Butlins many times over the years and not with the sun.
However normal paying customers which obviously make up some of the guests on the weeks the sun holidays run do not have any passes/wristbands they have to show at any time unless you buy the queue jumper passes.
I can't see how Butlins would ever distinguish between the sun holiday peeps and the other guests unless they operated a band system. Even if they did they would then have to check everyone entering the swimming pool/fairground/The pavilion.
    One which I've never seen.
