You Can Get Better than a KWIK Fit Fitter!!

I read it as ...
Original tyre type was £330 for 3
Arrowspeeds were £240 for 3
Arrowspeeds on internet were £170 for 3
... But I agree the "I checked prices on the KWIK Fit website and the same Tyres were £170 + VAT inc fitting" comment is open to interpretation.
PS - OP doesn't say the tyre size, but I'd say even £56-£57 per tyre for an Arrowspeed seems high.0 -
Eurocarparts are exactly the same, if you reserve online for parts expect about 20% cheaper. Currys/PCW also have 'web exclusive' prices if you reserve online.
You're paying for the convenience, in my eyes it's no different to paying 80p for a tin of beans at the local corner shop or 60p at a supermarket.
I'd be less concerned about your wallet and more concerned you've been driving around with three bald tyres.0 -
Amazed nobody has yet taken issue with the act of replacing 3 tyres! OP, tyres should preferably be in matched pairs so that the same type (tread pattern/compound etc.) is at least on both front wheels or both rear wheels. This is especially relevant given that your fourth tyre will also be more worn relative to the brand new one that is opposite it.
As an aside, re Eurocarparts, they are the same company as carparts4less.co.uk, which is online only and has their best prices...0 -

To be fair though, you don't know if the OP has just had the fourth tyre replaced last week, so would you still replace it if it was only 0.1mm worn from new? Where do you draw the line, 1mm? 2mm? 5mm?
End of the day, lots of people replace tyres one at a time. I can tell you now I wouldn't replace two tyres if I had a puncture in one and the other was only half worn. I may well rotate it onto the spare or something, but I don't have money to burn.
I would much rather replace two tyres at a time, but in the real world, people have mortgages, gas bills, kids to pay for, fuel, food, etc.0 -

I spotted the 3 tyre thing too, unless they've had a full size spare put on to save money.
TBH I always check ECP and C4L when I need parts and rarely see a difference once you put the voucher codes in, usually just on the Quidco there's a variation.
I mentioned them as I was up there a few months back and an old fella was raging at the staff about difference online. Their excuse was competition, online the competition is fierce and they have to match prices with other online retailers. Account holders get an automatic discount but the general public pay the full price as they are only really competing with Halfords.0 -
The tread depth of the 4th tyre isn't the issue mb101 was referring to. The issue is mixing tyre manufacturers, and therefore tyre patterns, specification etc, on the same axle. Yes I wouldn't want to replace a half worn tyre but I would get a matching new one for the one that needs replacing.
I understand that, but I'm trying to put this into the terms of the kind of person who takes their car to Kwik-Fit with 3 (possibly, this is Kwik-Fit after all) duff tyres for an MOT and then is surprised when they try and rip them off with Chinese ditchfinders.
That kind of driver isn't going to care about, understand why they should, or want to pay for fitting any particular brand/type of tyre.0 -
Cross post with BeenThroughItAll, soz
If the OP wasn't bothered about driving round on three bald tyres, I can't see them being bothered about differing tread patterns.
Some people like to have things right, some people like to have things legal and some people don't give a monkeys either way. Sad but true.0 -
Needed Michelin Primacy HP tyres, quote from Halfords £184 per tyre, cheapest I could get was Asda online, £128 supplied and fitted THROUGH HALFORDS.
Suggest you order through Asda and get Halfords to fit for convenience, my fitter couldn't believe the difference !!!0 -
I'm amazed that everyone assumes the OP was driving around with 3 bald tyres just because the Kwik Fit MOT tester said they needed replacing.
I'm guessing they had at least 4mm of tread left.0
