You Can Get Better than a KWIK Fit Fitter!!

I had a really bad experience with Kwik Fit which I thought I would share as I am sure they are ripping off loads of people daily!!
Booked in for an MOT and was advised I needed 3 new tyres and was originally quoted £330 + VAT. Then after a bit of haggling I was quoted some Arrowspeed tyres (an amazing deal I was told) totaling £240 +VAT incl fitting.
Luckily I checked prices on the KWIK Fit website and the same Tyres were £170 + VAT inc fitting. When challenging the quote the guy replied "oh yes it's always cheaper online". So in summary he was trying to rip me off.
ALWAYS CHECK TYRE PRICES ONLINE and preferably book your MOT somewhere else

Its common sense to shop around for anything.
You'd be better off going else where for your MOT though..0 -
Why make it personal - he just works there and believe me, has little or no control over the prices the computer spits out.
Perhaps you should look at how kwik-fit are ripping off their captive audience once you've been enticed in by a 'discounted' mot0 -
Only surprised you went for an MOT with 3 bald tyres...have you test driven those arrowskids in the wet yet?0

If you honestly believe that then you must be as gullible as many of the customers that go there.
If clearly isn't just reading off a screen if he can suddenly offer a 25% gross discount. And a 50% when questioned further.
It's well known these muppets try scam people. And yes I mean 'scam' in it's literal sense.0 -

The OP doesn't mention which tyres were £330, only that Arrowspeeds were cheaper, and the £170 price was the internet price.
The OP doesn't tell us if the fitter offered to match the internet price. I'd be surprised if anyone other than the branch manager could offer that sort of discount. What goes around - comes around0 -

I dont like kwik fit and would never use them on my own car but scam?
Yes they may try to scam when it comes to fitting parts that are not needed but trying to sell something that is needed for the highest price is not scamming it happens everywhere.
Do you know he wasnt reading off the screen, it may have had 3 prices on there
Do your homework before buying anything is the motto0 -
Ooh, hold the phones, what a major scam, a company charging cheaper prices online than they do instore! What will they think of next.
OP, may I suggest that in future check your tyres regularly yourself rather than rely on garages and tyre fitters to do so. That way you'll be able to make better choices.0 -

Yes he/she does.0 -
KF is a retailer who spend as much time on customer care and selling skills as they do on mechanical training for their staff.
If you want your aircon regassed or a replacement exhaust/shocker for a mainstream car, go there. They probably will be the cheapest and most convenient for the majority.
Don't however go there for anything else at all. Not only are their standards incredibly low, but through anecdotal and personal experiences from friends and close family, they WILL find additional, phantom faults.
All part of their sales and commission oriented business plan.
Go and get fast moving/fast selling parts cheap and ignore the rest.0 -

I read it as the Arrowspeeds were £170 online rather than the brand that was already fitted, but I guess it might be as arcon interpreted it.0
