here is the AA's take on the story:-

Private land parking enforcers are "free to reap any and every parking infringement," despite recent legislation, according to the AA.
"We need more barriers and parking attendants in private car parks to help and deter rather than let an anonymous machine churn out the tickets.
"Many companies are making vast sums yet are getting away with inadequate signing which becomes only a subjective issue at appeal."

I repeat, we're talking about staff costs. Not the same thing as wages.Je suis Charlie.0 -
I didn't say salary. There is more to staff costs than just salaries.
Indeed there is, that's why rent and all other costs is in your estimate of £1.5m? But if you reckon £3m, fair enough, it's still a drop in the ocean for the business turnover of ppc's. Another 12 fold increase this year hopefully!0 -

Here's the calculations undertaken by Pranky. You may want to rubbish them (you seem to be arguing the toss on this), but unless you can come up with an alternative, then PP's calcs are the best available.

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

These law students, who almost invariably uphold appeals where the motorist states there was no GPEOL, are getting a good grounding in contract law as it applies to private parking.nobbysn*ts wrote: »No, they won't be on that high a wage, I read on here they were students from college or similar. Some of them will be the District Judges of tomorrow.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

Yes. I reckon he looks about right. £750k overall seems in the right ball park.0 -
£750k for 23500 tickets is £32 a ticket. Even if PP is wide of the mark and it's twice that, that's only just over £60 a ticket now. And the 13500 tickets allowed will bring in £1.35 million, so it's likely that would be paid by people that lost at POPLA.0
