Neighbour has a cockeral

Was a couple where I used to live. Annoyed me for less than a week. After that it became part of my routine, a good part as when I heard them, it meant I had another hour to sleep.
Any chance you will get used to it?0 -
That is a sound that not even earplugs would drown out I think. I would not be happy being woken up every day for weeks at that time. With the OP on this one.0

An essential of home ownership: locate the stopcock.Mornië utulië0

We have given it a few weeks and we are not getting used to it.
Even the kids complain and cannot have their windows open at night.
Think I may approach them and see what reaction I get.0 -
Put in a noise complaint with the council. They can set up recording equipment and gather evidence.0

that should solve the problem.0 -
Ah, I read the topic as "cockatiel", not cockerel. My bad.
Unless someone is breeding/wanting fertilised eggs, I see no reason for owning a cockerel other than to annoy the neighbours. A hen can lay eggs without a cockerel, they just won't be fertilised. And personally, I wouldn't like a fertilised egg.0 -
About 20 years ago my dad kept chickens, we had quite a large garden and they were down the bottom next to a waste ground, quite a distance from any other houses. One day he got a letter from the council saying a neighbour had complained and that if they get another complaint they will monitor the noise levels. My dad was very annoyed, not because he had to get rid of the cockerel, but because the neighbour hadn't spoken to him about the noise first.
So speak to the neighbour, then if you get no joy go to the council.0
