I always grow lots of cabbage, including large red drumheads. The red ones make gorgeous spiced cabbage, which I portion and freeze, everyone loves it and there are lots of recipes on the net. I also make lots of sauerkraut from white and red and this lasts all through winter and beyond, I have also made creamed cabbage and frozen, it was perfectly good.0

savoy cabbage is fab if you quickly blanch it (removes any bitterness) Then stir fry it with garlic - you can add ginger and soy sauce for 'Chinese cabbage'. white cabbage is almost as nice done this way too.
The leaves of Savoy can be par-boiled until the 'spine' softens, then use them as 'wraps' for minced lamb or beef fried with onion, and some veg such as peppers, carrot, mushrooms. they can then be baked in the oven with a little stock or a cheese sauce.0 -
I always freeze any left over cabbage (usually savoy) and then add it to mashed potatoes for a topping for shepherds pie for a more healthy option.
You need to make sure you get rid of excess water though.0 -

I love pickled red cabbage but all the recipes I've found for using it as a cooked vegetable seem to have fruit (mainly apples), brown sugar and what I call sweet spices like cinnamon & nutmeg in them.
Do you any recipes that don't have these in, please?0 -
I shred savoy cabbage and pan fry with sun dried tomatoes and a few basil leaves. If you use the oil from the sun dried tomato jar it is even better. We have it as a side, usually with a piece of salmon on top.0

I tried okonomiyaki recently - it's a Japanese savoury pancake/pizza type thing made mainly with cabbage and a thin batter which you fry like a pancake then top with various toppings. It's easy to make and really yummy! there are loads of recipes for it online.0

You can do a white cabbage version using chopped onion caraway seeds and juniper berries.
You can also cook green or white cabbage in stock instead of water also leaving out the vinegar and fruit.0 -
