Sorry I have been MIA, but I've still been potting away behind the scenes. I'm not sure where the time has gone. Everyone seems to be doing rally well - not long to go now.I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!0

Hi Sue,
Thanks for message about joining and thanks for including me in list.
I think what I will do is carry this on through until next November now- the pot is pretty damn large and at the moment as I'm on maternity leave, I'm using all the spare (literally) pennies I can.
As I'm trying my best to have first NSD in October, I've just spotted some change in dish where OH puts money from pockets. Think I might stash a little bit of that.
As yet pot is not sealed- a big SMA baby milk tin that I need to make a hole in first. However I have quite good willpower and haven't dipped hand in yet!October NSD challenge 7/10:o
November NSD challenge 3/10 so far
SPC # 413 (but waiting until next year for grand opening!)

Some of us don't actually seal our pots. I am using a coca cola money tin.
20p potted from last night.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
50p saver #40 £20 banked
Virtual sealed pot #178 £80.250 -
Yup, my pot isn't sealed and it's a 2ft plastic coca cola bottle. However I only use that for coins. If I have any notes I put them into a coca cola tin that needs to be opened with a can opener.
I hate spending coins and carrying them around, so can easily prevent myself dipping into the big bottle, but I'll happily spend notes so hence they are in a sealed tin.0 -
I did my pot last night with the help of OH to seal the top :rotfl: and will be potting the money I saved on yesterdays food shop (£1.25 I think), i'm feeling determinedChristmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:
Mum to two boys :heartpuls0 -
Well, I've made a pot from an old vase and a HM cardboard lid which I've sealed with Sellotape so have put in £1 as the money saved from not buying one. Another 60p was added from change in my purse so that's £1.60 banked so far0

*Please pop your numbers on your sigs, it really helps.
A gold star for you, getting-there-slowly, for helping put newthrift on the right track, well done you! :staradmin
.....you too, mummytummy, thanks both of you and here's your gold star. :staradminOh no, my pot needs emptying this year, as mentioned most of my pot money comes from being the lender of choice to tide friends and family over so I need to empty this year for sure.
I'm looking for ways to find a bit more to pay off my last remaining debt which is my mortgage so anything that will bring the balance down before statement day is going to be counted lol
That's fine, savingdad, so we'll see you on the 27th November then, bet you can't wait!
Lovely to see you again, siju, getting ready for count up then??!
You enjoy saving right through, blueneleh. With luck you might get more time than us!!Brilliant! The same as a fair few of the latest members every year. :j
Behave yourself, jakes-mum! You're a blighter for going on (and on and...) about opening your pot - and that's in MAY??!! NO WAY!!!!!!
8 weeks?!!! Eek!!
That was then, Rosy, it's only (look away if you don't want to see the score folks. Eh this ain't football!! :rotfl:) 7 weeks now!!!!!!! :eek:GettingOrganised wrote:Is anyone else panic potting now we're only a few weeks off opening? I've found myself putting a lot more higher value coins in the pot than usual. I think I'm compensating for not potting much for a few weeks.
In the last week I think I've potted just under £10 (mostly £2 coins) plus 10p roadkill found on Sunday. I love roadkill now!
Can't wait to open the pot and see the total.
Don't worry, GettingOrganised, that's not a bad fault to have and speeds us all up a but I'm sure, but no, you're not alone.....I keep checking DH's pockets too!!! You didn't LOVE roadkill before??? :eek:blueneleh wrote:......that I completely forgot to buy a money box!
Perhaps that's a good thing as I'll maybe use some of the ideas on page 1 instead which will save me money which I can then put in the pot :money::D
There you are, blueneleh, forgetfulness isn't always a bad thing - darned good job too or I'd never do half the things I'm s'posed to!All the best with making one which is unique to YOU!
Good to see you, AlwaysHappy, and I'm sure you're doing well too!ott09 wrote:Hi Sue,

That'll be just fine, ott09. Don't forget to seal that pot though as it's a long way off to Nov 15 and a lot of temptation to go!!!Keep an eye on OH's money dish, he wouldn't want it to spill over now would he?! :rotfl:
Very well done, Ben, it sounds like you've the perfect means of saving darned well!Enjoy your evening and have a lovely Friday, Savers, save hard now....as it's just......7 weeks to go!!Sue x
