Charges for receiving international calls at home?
Options
Wonder if anyone can offer any help or insight?
I have a friend in Angola who has been calling from their mobile, I assumed I would not be charged for receiving these calls. Having spoken to T-Mobile they estimate my next bill to be almost £500 and said the roaming charges are approx. £1 per min. Is this right?
We have been texting as well but only using imessages which I assumed would be free.
I feel very stupid but assumed I would receive a warning text message like you do when you go abroad if this was going to cost me.
Any suggestions would be very gratefully received. Do I have a leg to stand on if I complain?
Many thanks in advance.

Your post doesn't make sense if you have a uk SIM card and are in the uk
Unless you have gone way over your contract allowancesEx forum ambassador

I have a UK sim card and contract.
I understood I have unlimited internet and texts and 2000 minutes under T-Mobile's 36 Full Monty plan.
I don't see how I could exceed any limits when I have not been making the calls.
I must be being charged for receiving them. Is this right?0 -
I'm not aware of them charging for you to receive calls etc on your home network in the uk , only when abroadEx forum ambassador

There was a thread here recently suggesting that a PAYG user was losing money when receiving call from an international sales/spam number.0

What is the number you are receiving the texts from? Make the last 2 digits xx for privacy.
And yes, iMessage is always free (other than the data needed to send or receive) anywhere in the world.====0 -
Thank you, these calls are being received from a UK mobile which is being used abroad so I don't understand it at all.
Could it be the imessages that are costing me?
I struggled to understand the accent of the person in the call centre. I will have to try again.
Thank you for your comments so far, they are much appreciated.0 -
