Lemanie sending you a hug back, loosing a parent at school is very sobering for all concerned, there were 3 who passed in the last couple of years DS3 was at primary and there has been one at the secondary this year. I wish you a wonderful holiday and I hope your health can improve.

    Thank you Lemanie

We had our new reception class in this week; a little boy is joining us who lost his daddy when he was a tot - his older brother was with us at the time and, although they were preparing him about daddy's illness the end came much sooner than anticipated. These 'events' are very sobering.

I have had some comments back from parents on reports - mentioning how pleased they, and the children, are that I will still be working (p/t) with them next year. I showed them to the head. Apparently he feels he made the right decision putting me in that class and this vindicates it. Yes - cos it's all about him, isn't it?rolleyes.gif We have had a class photo. I overheard a parent telling another she wasn't going to bother buying it but she has changed her mind because I'm on the photo!

By some miracle the energy fairy visited me and I spent a very long time in the garden last night, pruning and picking blackcurrants (bumper haul and they're not all picked yet), I mowed and strimmed the lawn, but the grass was too damp for the mower to pick up, and pulled some weeds. There's a devious little weed with tiny white flowers which has now gone to seed - and when you touch the plant it flings the seeds out! They're so tiny I can't see them - but I can feel them flying about - so no doubt more are to follow.*sigh*

Valli I'm picking blackcurrants today, are you jamming yours? Not decided what I'm doing with mine yet, may freeze for the minute.

Shower for me and then some serious activity I think!

Morning. Am up and about and have cooked the chicken drumsticks/wings etc for our little trip out today. We are taking my "niece" to the Kent County Show today, so am praying that the weather doesn't get too wet and soggy. Still I shall be prepared - I bought a small sunscreen, there are poncho's in the car and I have my pink welly boots..but I think I might wear pumps, although I do have a pair of "Think Pink" trainers which might go with my cropped trousers more than beige pumps..lol Food is all packed in the cool bags ready to take, just need to add the chicken and we are all ready to go.

I decided to get up early to do all this, and got the shock of my life - my niece had got up early. She was sorting out her loom bands on our table..bless her. First time she has done this so she must feel really at home here now, although she had been a little wotsit yesterday and I was ready to take her home. I can't believe I breathed a sigh of relief when she went to bed last night :rotfl:

Huge hugs Lemanie, hopefully you'll see this before you go away.
Piggers hope the Christening goes really well and little one is as quiet as a mouse, well as quiet as a mouse can be :D

    Morning

Well I've just woken up! Think I've had nearly 12hrs sleep! Think I will go put a wash on...

lemanie you are so right. My absence the week before last was due to the death of my brothers sister-in-laws husband (if you can follow that). My brother has two sets of nephews and nieces now, all who's fathers have died ridiculously young :( And to top it off, a family friend had a baby this week who barely survived 36hrs. They are not sure exactly why yet. RIP little Freya :A Her parents are grateful that they got to hold her, dress her and will have a "proper" funeral :(

It's so easy to forget to count your blessings (I know I have two rather lively ones!) but something like this is the perfect reminder.

Another blessing is friends, in which I count all of you xxx

Bossy that is all such sad news :( Your brother will have to just be a fantastic uncle and male role model for all those lovely little ones. Freya's mummy and daddy will be in my thoughts, I cannot think of anything worse than losing a child, especially so unexpected, they must be going through such terrible emotions. I have been very close to losing a couple of mine when they were very new, DS2 arrested twice in his first few hours, it took 25 minutes to get him breathing.. that was a LONG 25 minutes!! I think I aged 10 years in that time. and Moomin I had massive problems and they couldn't get her out quick enough, hence the brain damage they both have and Moomins CP.. But .. they are alive and healthy-ish and get by, but it was very much touch and go with them both.

The journey here was horrendous.. a 'just under 2 hour' drive took 4 hours!!! There were 5 major accidents on the M62, 2 looked particularly bad with an rolled MPV and a large white van, actually most of the accidents seemed to feature a white van of some sort! several fire engines and ambulances and lots and lots of police were attending and the traffic was awful.

Dot spent and hour screaming at 2am!!!

Pixie slept with OH and I slept with Squeak and Dot ...no one got much snoozing done!

OH's birthday today, I didn't have time to sort out all his gifts for bringing so he is waiting until we get home.. his main present hasn't even been sent yet, it was ordered 7 weeks ago on 6 week delivery, but it is coming from Australia and is hand made so I can't really complain, just hope it is wonderful when it does arrive!!!

We are supposed to be going out for lunch and we have my oldest 2 to collect at 4:30 from the station, run-and-grab food to collect at 6:30ish and get to community centre and then sort clothes etc for tomorrow.. OH is going to pick up my older 2 from the Travelodge and I am walking to the church with Pixie and Squeak, he is taking Dot with him because she is an absolute horror!!

I forgot to bring my sewing needle so I cannot sew up the cardy for GB4, I have been working on the blanket though, it is beautiful. I also just started another cardigan in a bit bigger size :)

Bossy, I honestly don't know what to say. Your courage is amazing; I realise you don't have a choice but I admire the way you always manage to find a way to cope.

:j Master Moo's lovely school report.

Pigpen, I hope today and tomorrow are as stress-free as possible (but I somehow doubt they will be) and Pixie's christening is beautiful.

Ah, the attic. It looks worse than when I started, due to the tetris-playing and first level sorting. We were planning on boarding over the two end bays but I want to get rid of most of the stuff up there so we don't need to shell out to create more storage space - for more gibble. OH finds it difficult to let stuff go because he is not a Fly-person and doesn't read additional decluttering blogs. (I subscribed to 365 Less Things and there have been some particularly helpful insights that make sense to me.) It will be weeks and many, many trips to the scrap store, CS and dump before I'm done, but the goal is to make it a pleasure to go up there and get stuff down when I need it.

My parents were hoarders and they offloaded a huge amount to me, I've been a hoarder all my life and OH is still a hoarder. The cheering me on this week has helped hugely, so thank you Flyladies. I echo Bossy on that one - my Fly Friends are very important to me.
    Better is good enough.

    Bossy hugs sweetie

I've cut half ofthe front beds and given the rose beds a quick tidy. If I have time I'll do some more later when it is not in full sun.

Going to put washing on the line and take DS2 to cricket and go on to Mr L. Be back n a couple of hours for a cuppa.
