YB, where you quote
I had one late payment with my UNISON card (by one day) and they charged £12 but did not take me off the 0%. So either they weren't applying it then or they have been inconsistent - the the detriment of the OP's wife. In my case I 'read' '15th' as '16th' and I was suspicious that they had later amended the statement date/payment date between the production of the initial online statement and the paper one (there's no way of proving this, now, but it never crossed my mind that they could be even more stinging about it if they wanted to be) The online statement definitely now says '16th'.Condition 3.2 We may apply the standard interest rate to balance transfers or purchases before the end of the special promotion period if in any month you do not make at least your minimum payment by the payment date or if you exceed your credit limit at any time......under construction.... After all, you'll be replaced by 5 more customers moving in for the 'brand new customers only' products...and at least one of them will make the same mistake you have.
I'm sorry, but that's the way it is with financial providers. Move your poor products (why haven't you done it before?), but don't cut your nose off to spite your face.
You are correct, but it is easier to keep a customer than it is to get a new one.
These 5 new customers have cost the Halifax a lot of money to aquire, for the sake of £12 (Which isn't profit) they are letting one go whom they have finally started to get a return from.Well life is harsh, hug me don't reject me.0 -
I partly sympathise because on one occasion I accidentally paid off the entire amount on my credit card, as usual, by internet banking, and accidentally credited it to my husband's VISA card rather than my own, and was charged a late payment fee. After much argument, Barclaycard agreed that the bill had been paid, albeit to the wrong accound and refunded the money. But it taught me a lesson and now we both pay off our monthly bills by direct debit. It's one less thing to worry about, especially as it's easy to miss a deadline if you're away on holiday.0
