Mate, any news since the letter? I got the same one and need advice asap :(

    Re-read post#25.

All the information you need is there.
  • t seems like they have covered all their tracks. Electronic signature, IP address confirmation, contract information. They've even said to forward solicitor details of you are referring to them to deal with. Question is, is it a bluff?

    Stickyicky, did you re-read post#25?

Did that not answer your question?

They operate legally, its also down to the user to check things out, the Post Office have a check and send service.

Actually they're not legal if they use any gov logos or don't clearly state they are unaffiliated with the govt. Otherwise it's passing off.

I understand that the Home Office is (belatedly) taking action on this and there were some hints that Google would remove them from the top of the results tables/stop accepting adwords for those services.

A lot of EHIC websites (which I think were probably the first to start this) were closed down a few years ago.
Since then, they've become 'cuter' and they do have a disclaimer that they are not the official website and do point out that you can get the same service free (or cheaper) from the official website and some even provide a link to the official website.

I think the Government & Google were working together but even so, it seems that a rogue site does pop up at the top of a Google search every now and again.
  • Completed form in July this year for my husbands passport booking through britishpassportservices.co.uk they're now chasing 6 months later saying I owe them £117.60.

I told them to do one every time they called from their "collections department" as considered it was just scare tactics. Was almost laughing when they said they'd issue court proceedings then they sent me this...

    britishpassportservices.co.uk/court-cases/uk-services-and-support-ltd.html

Saying that they have legally binding contract. In the process of taking legal advice to see if it is or not.

If you actually used their services you owe them the money. If you realised the mistake and arranged the passport yourself you are in a much stronger position.
