Couple of approaches I would take,

Either tell them to run and jump you told them to cancel

Or deny all knowledge and completley ignore letters or phonecalls from them. "What internet form?" because quite simply whats to stop me filling in someone elses details and they will then 'start work'

thats just what i would do though.

You should however contact your local CAB, and they can advise properly, i certainly wouldnt be paying them any money

    Thanks
There is also a new online consumer law which came out on the 13th June

I just went through an application and at the end they ask for card details, so if they havent got yours then you havent fully completed an appplication and they can run and jump

I will just carry on ignoring their letters then. Thanks Glen

Passports, tax disc renewal and others will have a .gov in the website link, dont use any other site.
  • I really dont know why these sites are not closed down for what I think is called "passing off" If I opened a site called Coke a Cola as opposed to (Coca Cola) and sold a drink in a red can I would be sued to hell, why are our government so toothless?

They operate legally, its also down to the user to check things out, the Post Office have a check and send service.

    Hi,

I was looking at getting my daughter a passport and noticed on the governments website you can do it with a fast track 1- week. I typed in fast track 1- week into Google and came across a site called 'ukpassportoffices.co.uk'-
    Thanks

I typed that into google and the first hit is the .gov legitimate site, I wonder why you didn't click on that one?

Also the site you found has, right at the top, this horrible mangling of the language:

    ukpo-header-disclaimer.png?9434fb

The site is very slow to load too, suggesting it may be hosted abroad or on the end of someone's home internet connection.

However having said all that, a naive surfer such as yourself shouldn't have to put up with being ripped off by such shysters and I wish you luck - don't pay them a penny.

The main problem THEY have is they started the work after I said I would not pay the fee

The PO check and send service is much the same as any of these web based operations.

They all charge you for something you can do yourself for free but I dont see the government shutting the PO down
