Greasy hair straight after washing!

Mine does this in the summer.
I have found that 3x shampooing works as my hair is long and thick. I.e shampoo and rinse on the 3rd really work the shampoo like the hairdresser does and condition the ends.
Good luck it's all a bit trial and error0 -
I've had a breakthrough! I washed twice using the Tresemme and left it on for a few minutes each time. It's worked! It doesn't look greasy at all now, and I can only feel it a tiny bit underneath at the back. I'm hoping another wash tomorrow will get the last out and I'll have my lovely soft hair back. Thanks everyone0

My hair is long and fine. It's also very straight. My hair tends to feel greasy if I haven't fully washed out the shampoo and conditioner.
I used to wash my hair every day, but now I leave it as long as I can (maybe every 3 days) and use dry shampoo in between. I also tend to wear my hair up when it's looking desperate for a wash.0 -
Have you thought about using a sensitive shampoo.0

Sounds exactly what happened to me if the tresseme has cleared it up after a couple of washes - reckon it must be silicone build up rather than anything odd about your hair per se.
I only realised it was the shampoo when after 3 or 4 washes (by my mum over the bath to help with the rinsing) and begining blow drys, the problem was getting worse and worse..
Sounds like you have it under control - glad your hair is feeling more like itself!0 -

I think this must have been it. I was washing more and more trying to get it to feel clean and it must have been coating it more each time! I dyed my hair a couple of weeks ago and have been using the conditioner that comes with it too, which must be stuffed full of things that build up considering how soft it makes my hair feel. It must have just had enough. Fingers crossed it's totally back to normal tomorrow0 -
Well done! I was going to suggest another shampoo - in a bottle with large green writing - 'root stimulator aloe vera OLIVE OIL shampoo' is a good neutralising one, very creamy.
Like you, I have long hair and sometimes use dry shampoo between washes but do be aware that dry shampoo itself can also cause build up.0 -
I've had this a few times, but only on the crown of my head. The best a google came up with was hormonal changes?
I got some apple cider vinegar, but thankfully before that tried Johnson's baby shampoo. Works a treat.
I have to say I'm a convert. After years of spending a fortune & trying every new product under the sun. Baby shampoo & a good conditioner on the ends has my very long hair in fantastic condition.
It just makes sense to wash in a neutral shampoo instead of all those chemicals & ingredients.0 -
The Herbal Essences clarifying one is called Fresh Balance. I use it once a week, it keeps my hair build up free. I condition every other wash, and then just do the ends. Don't actually shampoo your lengths either, wash your scalp and allow the shampoo to wash the lengths as it runs down them. I swear by Batiste for second day hair that looks freshly washed.
This might sound daft or extreme but I also don't sleep on the same pillowcase more than once. I turn it then change it. My skin has also improved no end since I started doing this.0 -
Maybe you could try washing in something like vosene or one that specifically says for greasy hair. If you need conditioner, just use it at the ends of your hair.
My hairdresser recommended this for my dd's hair and its worked a treat. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
