Greasy hair straight after washing!

I have this problem when I use "creamy" shampoos and find that the clear green Herbal Essences is the best for my hair. It's usually on offer in one of the supermarkets so worth a try before chopping it all off!0

Have you applied anything different lately?
Did you use a body oil/lotion then use your hands to tie your hair up? Lean against the back of the bath where someone had used oil?
Something has coated your hair - and by the sounds of it something with silicones in it.
This isn't good for your hair, but I'm guessing at this point you are willing to try anything.
Use Fairy Liquid and rinse in vinegar. This might take a few goes but should get whatever the 'grease' is out.

I would suggest a vinegar rinse too. Does sound like silicone build up on it.Bossymoo

Yes it's good that Herbal Essences one, I think it's called Dazzling Shine or something similar. You could also try Pantene Aqua Light or Ice Shine shampoos, they're both very cleansing. I'd shampoo it twice, until it squeaks.0 -
You have my sympathy too. I have long hair and have yet to find a good shampoo which sorts out my greasy roots.
I hope you manage to solve your problem.Time may be a great healer, but it's a lousy beautician....0 -
Thanks everyone
I've bought a Tresemme shampoo that says it's clarifying so I'll try that, and if not then I'll look for the herbal essences one.
I do condition each time I wash every couple of days, but I don't put any other products on it (except dry shampoo) and I don't use body lotions or anything. I moisturise my face with one of the no7 moisturisers so maybe this has been on my hands when doing my hair?
I've borrowed some white vinegar from my mam incase the shampoos don't work!0 -
Batist - get the coloured one, otherwise it shows.
Not an own brand alternative, but real batist (the new dove one is quite nice).0 -
If your hair is feeling waxy I doubt any supermarket shampoo will contain enough harsh ingredients to properly clean it, but good luck.

I had this problem in my late teens. It is probably a build up of silicone. I was using l'oreal elvive or pantene shine shampoo or something. I would use a clarifying shampoo to strip off all the silicone. Don't use it every day as it will strip your hair of all natural oils.
Start using another shampoo preferably one without silicone. That said, I do use the philip kingsley range - not very mse but I it does make my thick but flyaway hair lovely and glossy and manageable - and that has some 'cone' ending ingredients, but I have never had a residue build up problem..
Good luck - I know how soul destroying this can be!0 -
try the 1 litre supermarket brands shampoo for about £1, works for me0
