Greasy hair straight after washing!

Help! I have pretty long hair (reaches lower back) that I colour with Nice n Easy around every 6 weeks. I have no idea why, but for some reason this week it's gone sort of greasy/waxy, and no amount of washing will shift it! My hair is fine and poker straight, so it's really obvious and I can't wear my hair down cos it looks awful! Weirdly, it's fine at the roots and it's only the mid lengths at the back that have gone all weird and greasy.
I've googled it to death and short of having the lot cut off cos I can't seem to find a cause, I'm going to try a proper clarifying shampoo. I'm off to Boots today - can anyone recommend a good brand of clarifying shampoo that I could pick up in store? I don't want to have to wait for online delivery
my hair is usually really silky and soft, and this is awful!

I have straight hair mid length between chin and shoulder, if I don't wash it everyday it goes really greasy. I don't have any advice on what shampoo for you but I change between Aussie, touch of silver and tresseme. I also find if I'm feeling abit run down or poorly then my hair is a complete mess, greasy full of static, maybe ask your hairdresser if she can recommend. Hope someone comes along soon with a better answer, I just wanted to sympathise0

Washing it too much .... as hard as it sounds, leave it for 4-5 days without washing it .....0

Oh god no, I'd look a right mess! I used to wash it every day, but for the last year or so I only wash once every 2-3 days and use dry shampoo if needed in between.
I don't think I'd mind so much if it wasn't long, but when it's greasy it feels awful. This feels more than grease though - it feels sort if tacky or waxy, and really heavy. I don't know if it's build up from the heavy conditioners that come with shop bought dye, but my normal shampoos aren't getting rid of it.0 -
definitely wash it less and don't use conditioner, I made the mistake of washing hair too often on holiday and using a shampoo with conditioner in it - kept feeling like my hair needed washing again straight away0

I should wash mine every day - I am now trying to use dry shampoo inbetween washes0

I used to have the same problem until I took my hairdressers advice. Now I use a supermarket, it doesn't matter which one, own brand one step up from their value range for normal hair and wash every second day.
Now my hair is lovely with no build up or greasiness at all and the only time I get problems is if I try a fancier shampoo.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Well I went to my local boots and couldn't find any clarifying shampoo, the girl I asked wasn't even sure what it was so I did a bit more googling and tried using some baking soda. No change
I'm going to try a bigger boots, and if no luck then a hairdresser. Hopefully they can help, otherwise they can cut it off!

Herbal Essences do a clarifying shampoo, its the clear one in the green bottle0 -
Maybe you could try washing in something like vosene or one that specifically says for greasy hair. If you need conditioner, just use it at the ends of your hair.0

Maybe you are using too much product? try using a small amount about the size of a 10p, don't condition every day either. If you are washing your hair every day then this is bad for your hair and it will become greasier and will feel waxy if you are using lots of products.
Only condition the ends of your hair and do this once a week or once a fortnight - not every day.0
