Will neighbours complain? - too many delivery vans coming into street

We live in a cul de sac of 12 houses and run a business from home.

We have on average 4 delivery vans a day (eg Yodel, Hermes, UPS, DPD), dropping off around 1 or 2 boxes.

Do you think the neighbours could complain? Would this annoy you?

Except from this, we are very quiet, no pets or kids, no parties etc.

Thanks!

4 a day? Wouldn't bother me at all TBH. If it was 4 an hour, that may 'possibly' be a bit annoying, like if they were blocking the road or driveways etc, but 4 a day? No. I doubt if many people will notice or care. :)

Depends, if they are out at work, won't be bothered. If they are elderly and don't get out much then they would be glad to observe the comings and goings. All other genres might get a bit peeved, but can't really do much about it surely?

    Thanks Lily Rose :)

I don't want them to complain to the council, because the council will try and get business rates from us (even though we have no dedicated business rooms)

I couldn't imagine anyone complaining. They may be wondering what on earth you keep buying. :rotfl: But I can't see what 'complaint' there would be tbh. :)

When I was working away from home a few years ago, I rented a little place in a small Norfolk village. As there were no shopping centres in the vicinity, we made some online purchases and sure enough, after a delivery van a few times a week, one of the busybody nasty neighbours kicked up terribly. The house was in a small development that had a large communal courtyard where delivery vans, visitors and residents cars accessed the houses.

The old gitz who complained winged that we were "obviously running a business, which was not permitted under the terms of use of the communal areas" . We weren't - they were just domestic deliveries a few times a week, but just to point out that it would just take one busybody with a nasty temperament to start yelling at the council about you. Some people have nothing else to do!

If it was my next door neighbour they would complain I have seen them complain about a delivery of a TV because the van parked outside their house (didn't block them in by the way) I think it depends on the neighbours if they are miserable like the couple next door they will moan about anything.

If it's a big concern to you, maybe look into alternatives - e.g. something like a PO Box?

I can't imagine anyone complaining - it wouldn't bother me - as at work all day
The opposite of what you know...is also true
  • It wouldn't annoy me but I would definitely notice it.

Even if that did annoy me, for whatever reason, I wouldn't complain about it.
