OP it may be worth taking a print of the description just to back up your argument about the description just in case......

Thanks mountainofdebt - yes I have a copy of the description and my nearest Argos is the one I bought it from.
Argos actually do sell a Vax tool pack with all the tools so the sensible thing for all concerned is to send me the duster from that - then I'm a happy customer and they have still made a sale - but too sensible? I'll let you know...0 -
Argos suggested I buy the 'missing part' direct from Vax and that they would compensate me - without prompting. So well done Argos.
They do need to speed up the email response system though. I was contacted 7 days after sending the complaint and it may be that this was in response to this thread... surely the major consumer companies monitor sites like this.
