I have been getting the same calls as others, each time I answer I get a recorded message inviting me to telephone if I do not require their services. When I checked on Google, the firm is based in Bournemouth and its home page suggests they have been in the business for 20 years. Before I saw this thread, I tried an e-mail using their 'contact us' address, asking how they found my ex-directory number and why they only left a pre-recorded message. I threatened tham with a report to both the FSA and ICSTIS for their modus operandi. Guess what. I got an 'undelivered' response because the address was no longer in use!

That's rich that BT have something called Annon Call Rejection. I get very frequent 'cold calls' from BT which 'do my head right in'

It might seem an odd one...this number calls my mobile about 3-4 times a day, no matter how quickly I answer, it goes dead. If I ring it from my mobile, there's no answer.

At one point, a voicemail message was left following a missed call from this number, saying I should phone a different number (sure it mentioned remortgages) to stop the calls coming... Unfortunately, I didn't note the number and the message has now expired. :o I wasn't planning on ringing it, as it seems a bit dodgy to me.

Has anyone elese had the same problerm or can you suggest how to get rid of them altogether? It's driving me round the twist!!!

    Thanks imoneyop for that advice.

I have phoned BT and they have what they call Annon Call Rejection. This takes about 48 hours to kick in, and operates for one month. When you get one of these annon calls you are able to dial a certain number afterwards to block that number from phoning your number. The next time they call they get a message stating that the number they are dialling is not accepting their calls.

This is choose to refuse. I have this service it costs approx £8 a quarter so be prepared for that. Also you can only block up to 10 numbers. Having said that, i wouldn't be without it.
  • It may well be a computer calling you, I had a similar number calling me at the same time every day which always rung off when i answered. What happens is the computer registers what time you answer your phone so that a real person can call you and has more chance of getting hold of you. (a tactic Orange likes to use)

Hi there I am being called up to 7 times a day by 01202587676 despite calling the number they leave to get removed from their calling list. So thanks to this forum I found out that it is a company called Positive Response and went on their website and called their offices on 01202 293930 and spoke to an infuriatingly nice man who apologised profusely and blamed a fault in their call centre. he promised that my number would be removed from their list and that I would get no more calls.

    Hi Lucy,

I would also recommend the Mailing Preference Service too, found here: http://www.mpsonline.org.uk/mpsr/

We signed up to this one and our junk mail practically disappeared; only drawback is that we now have to buy our own pens instead of having them mailed in weekly by Capital One. :rotfl:

Priceless :rotfl: Must admit I have several Capital One pens in my pen pot :D
