01202587676 - is this number part of a scam??

It might seem an odd one...this number calls my mobile about 3-4 times a day, no matter how quickly I answer, it goes dead. If I ring it from my mobile, there's no answer.

At one point, a voicemail message was left following a missed call from this number, saying I should phone a different number (sure it mentioned remortgages) to stop the calls coming... Unfortunately, I didn't note the number and the message has now expired. :o I wasn't planning on ringing it, as it seems a bit dodgy to me.

Has anyone elese had the same problerm or can you suggest how to get rid of them altogether? It's driving me round the twist!!!

http://www.snozwangler.com/ is perfect for checking these numbers out.

It says this number belongs to a mob called [SIZE=-1]Positive Response UK Ltd. I know nothing about them, but I'm sure the regulars do.

On the same vein, someone is phoning my ex-directory home number at least once every day but withholding their number. Every time it rings it rings exactly four times, and has been going on for about two weeks. You would think by now that they would get the drift that I don't answer withheld numbers ........

Also, does anyone know the number 08080000144? They keep phoning my mobile, but I'm wary of answering numbers I don't recognise.

This same number (01202587676) call my number about 3-4 times a day as well.

Luckily the phone it calls is just a old payg mobile that I give any website or seller that I dont want constant contact with as its switched off most of the time.

I did actually answer once and it is offering finance and told them I wasnt interested but still getting the calls.

That's a great tip, thanks for looking that up for me! I wonder if there's some way to stop these calls? It's strange that the company are called Positive Response, but they always hang up when I answer, lol! I'll try and find an email addy for them and give them a piece of my mind..I'll post the addy on here if I find one. Thanks again for your help!

OP ring this number and ask them to take you off their register, if they do continue to call report them to the Financial Services Authority.

    0845 456 68 60

Its a recorded message, just leave your number and they HAVE to take you off their records. If not report them.

Just called the number so hopefully the daily calls will stop. I'm surprised they've persevered, it's been going on for months! It still bothers me that they put the phone down when I answered. Anyway, thanks loads for all your help, you've helped stop the blue air in my house, lol!

If you are with BT, they offer the facility to block id withheld calls. can't remember if they charge for it as standard or not - but we got it for free after we complained about a similar problem to you.

    Thanks imoneyop for that advice.

I have phoned BT and they have what they call Annon Call Rejection. This takes about 48 hours to kick in, and operates for one month. When you get one of these annon calls you are able to dial a certain number afterwards to block that number from phoning your number. The next time they call they get a message stating that the number they are dialling is not accepting their calls.
