New bathroom

I am going to get a new bathroom fitted soon, but I wondered if anyone knows the answer to this question;

I have a small bathroom and want it replacing and one wall half tiling. How long should this take to do? I am not moving the suite around or anything, I just need to know how long I will be without my bathroom.

Thank you :)

  • Well I am disabled and I moved my toilet 5", replaced the pipe connecting it to the soil pipe as it wasn't long enough, put in a new sink and tiled it in 3 days. The toilet was usable all day except a few hours when I moved it.
  • Plumber came round one night, unwrapped everything to make sure it was all there/not damaged and put all fittings together.

    He arrived early next morning, ripped out old bathroom, replaced with new, in existing places and did a bit of tiling. All done for tea time.

    I was very impressed at how quickly he worked and he cleared up too! He said he always worked that way, cos that's how he'd expect tradesmen to work in his home.

    if you have all the parts or if the fitter is supplying them it should take no more than 2 days, 1 day if he starts early!

    Best to get the same plumber as Aussieelle used!!

    Sensibly though, a tradesman you know, or is recommended, is the first thing to sort out.

    Most would make sure you had a toilet, to use - commonsense, but bet theres some out there that wouldn't!

    & if you've not chose the suite yet, don't forget some DIY stores charge extra for taps n things.

    Focus don't, nor Wickes, I think.

    Thanks everyone... does it matter what style of suite I buy as I currently have a very old bathroom suite.

    style doenst matter but in this case size does matter. Baths do come in different sizes so check how big your current one is etc....

    A stanard bath is 1700mmx700mm
    A thankyou is payment enough .
  • Why not do at least some of the work yourself? I recently fitted my own new bathroom and had never done anything like that before. With modern push fit pipes I'm amazed that Plumbers get away with charging so much. I reckon I saved at least a £1000 labour
