Conveyancing soliditor on maternity leave

So although we asked our solicitor if she had any holidays planned (no), she only told us last week that she is pregnant & being induced on Monday which is the week we are due to exchange with completion the following week.
She has maternity cover starting 10 days later but plans to be at work the week after next to complete the work - but actually she could still be in hospital at that point. And we need to complete by the end of the month or our seller will pull out of the sale.
So what are our options? Take everything elsewhere (but be liable to pay her for work done so far then pay another chunk of fees for someone else to read everything)? Or just hang on in the hope she'll be back on time or her maternity cover can pick everything up (though she starts 2 days after we should exchange)?

She must have something put in place to handle things in her absence.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. She is being induced early so there is a 9 day gap between her leaving & her cover taking over.0

If your seller pulls out, they'll have to wait from new to sell to somebody else, which could take literally months instead of a couple of days by sticking with you.
It only makes sense if they decide not to sell to anybody - call their bluff and leave it to the last minute to say you may be a few days later than anticipated.0 -
That's the trouble with employing women..... I'd ban it.0

I thought you legally had to have two weeks off work minimum after giving birth.0

Surely she can get in a locum if there's nobody else in the firm to take over, is she a one woman practice?0

Look - she's having a baby, not having a hysterectemy.
Women have babies all the time oherwise we wouldn't be here and this forum would be populated entirely by aliens.
I'm sure she'll be able to sit up in bed in a ward somewhere and ensure Completion takes place.0 -
She is a one woman practice & I'd much rather employ a woman, just would prefer her to have the time to enjoy her new baby than have me hassling her about house stuff.0

Being induced and giving birth are not exactly minimal procedures!0 -
