You've obviously not been reading the financial press or the interim trading statements! Or keeping up to date on the number of Aldi/Lidl store openings in the last couple of years.

Most of the population do in fact now live close enough to one or both of these stores, and their impact on the likes of Tesco, Asda and Morrisons is substantial - and growing. They've even had to cut a lot of their prices quite markedly to try to claw back the lost trade.

Your thinking is rather like Tesco's a couple of years back. But they don't think that way now.

When you have to spend week in, week out only sticking to the cheapest apples, bananas and value veg, believe me this comes as a very welcome offer. We have fruit in our fridge that my kids could only dream of.....melon, strawberries, cherries, grapes, pears, cooking apples to make a lovely crumble from.

I don't enjoy having to buy the Sun but feel it's not fair pass my distaste of the paper onto them and make them miss out.

Well I am well stocked up, even bought a sack of potatoes. Used 3 coupons this morning, then the mother in law rang me to tell me she picked up 3 newspapers for me! She bought a couple for herself too.

thats the first trip done for me......a couple of miles on foot.........superfit by Sunday me finx. At least I'll have enough veg to refuel afterwards.

Done one, two to go. Free bus to Morries and free fruit and one of the newspapers was free. £15 for 80p spend. Hack that Murdoch.

This morning I picked up the last of my half dozen bottles of free 1.25L bottles of Coke Zero from the free world cup edition of the Sun , and bought half a dozen copies of todays paper - so a nice profitable period for me
