hello, i wonder if someone could give me some advice, i bought a tv from a well known supermarket, now this tv as developed an intermittent fault, i have only had this tv less than 4 months i have spoke to the manufacturer who say i have to take it to a service centre to be repaired i told them i dont really want to do this as i would like the tv replaced or a refund as im so disappointed with this tv and concerned it might not last 12 months,
i have also rang the customer services from where it was bought who were so unhelpful and told me they wouldnt replace it only repair it as they have a 28 day policy i was also told if i didnt like it i could take it to trading standards, also i was told by them that all there tvs come with a free warranty for 5 years which is something i dont believe i think he told me this to get me off the phone
how do i find out about the warranty
an advice would be really grateful

You find out about the warranty by consulting the paperwork and receipt from your original purpose. Failing that, ask head office.
Otherwise they are in the right, they can repair rather than refunding or replacing. However I'd advice you deal directly with the retailer and let them chase the manufacturer about it.0 -
all i have is a till receipt and it say nothing about warranty,0

The retailer has the choice to repair, replace or refund, they would obviously choose the cheapest which is obviously going to be a repair.
The warranty doesn't come into it at the moment, only when it is past the first year would you need to use it but if you have no paperwork then the warranty will run out after one year.
You have no other rights I am afraid.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
so i cant ask for it to be replaced i know some supermarkets just give you a refund and that is what i would like0

but the tv is less than 4 months old and as maybe been used less than 10 times as it is in the bedroom0
-
It doesn't matter, you can ask for refund/replace/repair but the retailer can choose which remedy to take.0
-
Even if they would consider refunding they still have the right to inspect the TV in case you have for example dropped it.0
-
they can inspect it what if i email the chief ex with my complaint would that do anything as the person i spoke to this afternoon as told me a load of bull about the warranty i think it was just to get me of the phone0

You can email the CEO if you wish but the fact still remains that the retailer can choose which remedy to action.0
