They cannot subsequently increase the price beyond that which was originally agreed. To do so would be an offence under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations.
Bizarre that so many people who post on here have absolutely no grasp of the law.
But what was the agreed price?
By OP's own admission the sec guard quoted numerous amounts and wasn't sure o the correct one so advised that they would need to ask reception... Also a poster displaying the correct price was on display.
The ONLY thing i'd question was why the guard was selling bedding packs on behal o the university - are they possibly privately contracted and thus not authorised? You could possibly argue that you were mis-sold and go the route you've suggested but 4 a 10 pound note it is really mingey and you'd make (or save) more money by simply paying it. Also, I suspect the uni holds all the evidence here and all you have is your word against the security guard so again an absolute waste o time. Not to mention that univ resources are being wasted on this0 -
He provided a source.
He has provided you a with a source that isn't relevent in your case..it would only be relevent if the guard had said "Yes pal it's £25", but thats not what was said.
Just because he is the only one to give you an answer that gives you a warm fuzzy feeling doesn't make it right....look were every single other poster is swinging!:D0 -
I recommend hiring Lionel Hutz, attorney at law.0

It's a private accommodation complex, endorsed by Bournemouth University. And it's £35, not £10. That's 5% of my weekly salary wasted.0
