Sony will deal with this direct, i had a problem with my one from amazon and it was doorstep replaces within the week (could have been sooner but there was not a convenient time for me before that)

Sony said send it back and it be repaired or replaced. What are the chances of me getting a replacement console? Will the replacement be new or refurbished? Anybody have problems with their refurbished PS4 direct from sony?

If Sony do decide to repair instead of replacement then will sony make sure that everything with my PS4 is working before they ship it back to me? Like a quality control hardware checklist and will they check it with a graphically intensive game for hours non stop to check for overheating/freezing issues?

For example if sony diagnose that the power supply unit needs replacing then will sony just replace the power supply and not check/test other components? Cause I don't want them to just replace the power supply and ship it back to me to later for me to find out that I have problems with freezing/disc drive/overheating issues/hdmi issues/light issues etc

Im saying all this cause I just had the console for a couple of days meaning I haven't had the time to fully test everything.

Did you had to send your PS4 console to them 1st or did Sony sent you the replacement 1st?

A courier arrived with a new PS4 and we swapped them over on the doorstep (console unit only and no cables, controller etc), whether they still do it this way I don't know but mine was done during the first 2 weeks of release.

Couldnt tell you if it was new or not but as it had only been out 2 weeks i would suspect it was a new unit manufactured for replacement rather than to go on sale

But i bought mine couple of days so how come you got different sony service to me?

Erm ... because he bought NEW and the issue was found (and resolved) within a couple of weeks of RELEASE of the PS4?

I bought a 24" TV/DVD/Monitor from the Argos Clearance place. Got it home and had a play. The record feature was brilliant and excellent quality.

I inserted the DVD expecting it to start playing. Nothing. Tried another and nothing again.

OK nobody looking get the manual out. Press menu on the remote and select DVD. I did that and there was no DVD option in the menu. Seems the TV must have the wrong firmware for that model.

Took it back and they were great. A lad said you might want to wander around a bit because we are taking a delivery of some good ones.
Had a wander around and went back he said they had not got to that pallet yet, But went and pulled one for me.

Its still working, Although the recording feature is not as good as the other TV.

Returns are limited to their stock though. Not had anything else that i have returned to them to know if thats the normal service or struck lucky.

How does sony know I bought it new or refurbished? They can tell from the serial number?

Most likely. Certainly the date of manufacture will be easily determined.
