Accident not in Accident Book

Hi, wasn't quite sure where to post this but hoping someone can help or redirect me. It's quite a simple query really. My Mum got her foot run over by the school minibus (and broken) when she was picking up my daughter. This happened in the school car park. We are getting a solicitor but in the meantime, CAB have suggested asking for a copy of the entry in the school accident book. I have now found out (from the new Headmaster) that no details of the accident were ever recorded by the Head who retired shortly after the accident. Is there not a legal requirement for a headteacher/school to record such incidents? Would the HSE be the people to approach? I am fuming! Thanks for any advice.

What was she doing in the car park? Does she have a car there?Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
The money is only going to come from the school, impacting your daughter.
Do you really need to sue the school?0 -

What a silly question. Loads of schools have their car parks near the main entrance, requiring you to cross the car park to get to the school. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

If it was the driver's fault and the victim is out of pocket as a consequence, then yes.One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -

Maybe. Many schools who care for the welfare of public and pupils would also have gates - like my sons school does - to stop parents and children from crossing the car park and have a gate open well away from the car park to ensure thsi type of thing doesn't happen.Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
Well if they don't, more evidence that the school are at fault thenOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

Rubbish, it will come from the councils Insurers which will be Zurich or if they self Insure / have a very high excess will come from the council0 -
A doctor would be more useful to your mother than a solicitor.0

Why do people feel the need to sue these days...i fell and hurt my knee badly 4 years ago in asda after slipping on something on the floor, i was on crutches for 6 weeks and could'nt go into work..the amount of people that said oooo are you suing them? Er no it was an accident and accidents are called accidents because they are unitentional events.
The school i'm sure didn't play a role in this ladys foot being run over, the driver of the mini bus i'm sure didn't aim for this lady, i'm sure it will be argued though the reason she was so close to the minibus or why wasn't she looking where she was going...it was an accident!0 -
Yes it should have been recorded at the time of the accident. The HSE may want to look at why this wasn't done and ask the school about it, but it's probably too late now to be of any practical use to your case as the relevant people don't seem to be around even if they were able to do it retrospectively.
Before you go in all guns blazing, you might want to consider any contributory negligence and whether your mum was at fault in any way as this could reduce any potential award.
I'm just wondering how someone can miss a moving minibus or whether the driver was completely oblivious to parents and children milling around? All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0
