Have you got a quote? You might get more for those than you thought.

I've no idea what to even aim for anymore as everything really nice is out of reach. :(

I didn't think we would ever be this unsuccessful at our age.:p

After watching the tennis I wouldn't mind living near Wimbledon.

500k where I am (north London) will just about get you a house that is not very nice.

    Exactly!

Quite nice, but a bit on the small size for a normal family.

I'm tempted to fire an email to the EA asking if it has double glazing throughout! :rotfl:

    Exactly!

I used to work in Wimbledon and I'd walk past very ordinary 2 bed victorian terraces (no off street parking, tiny courtyard garden) for sale for around £850k. Utterly totally bonkers.

Probably mushing a mill these days.....

This is my current favourite dream home and only £375k (although there are a few other favourites running up to about £1.2m)

It's an idyllic little hobbit home!

Makes the one I most want feel quite "modest" looking at some of the ones here...:rotfl:. £475,000 (in quite a dear area) for one at the level I "thought I would have had by now".

Anyone else just dreaming of a "thought I woulda by now" level house?
Well when I started the thread I was more thinking about houses that were just out of reach, rather than houses that only a premier league footballer could afford. For me, I could probably afford £400k, or £450k at a pinch, but the truly lovely houses around me start at £500-600k. And for that I'm talking about a 4-bed detached with a reasonable plot of land and a bit of "character". I'm not talking about mansions and palaces.

I'm not keen on the decor and the beams but the house is lovely. The garden is huge! Is it in reach? We have a whiteboard of dream items and I've had "sea view" on there for many many years. Hoping to exchange on a house with sea views today. I'm also hoping to get the ensuite, downstairs toilet, garage with electric door, utility room and craft room in it eventually. At the moment it's a wreck and has no heating!

My first thought was well its only about 10 minutes away but then my brain caught up - unfortunately its a good lotto win away. There's only me (plus 2 cats and 2 dogs but they are useless at earning any income) :p
