Oh and the catch 22 is we could just about afford it while we work in London but if we could live there we wouldn't earn enough in the area to live there!

Wow - if I clubbed together with my mum we really really could afford that. The commute *would* be a bit of a problem though...

I've just spotted that my dream house has been dropped from £585k down to £550k, which is still at least £150k more than I can afford but is so tantalisingly close.

I love period cottages - the trouble is that they're all so huge, and so expensive. If ever a 3-bed period cottage cropped up in the £400k range then I'd be *seriously* tempted to sell up...

Makes the one I most want feel quite "modest" looking at some of the ones here...:rotfl:. £475,000 (in quite a dear area) for one at the level I "thought I would have had by now".

Anyone else just dreaming of a "thought I woulda by now" level house?
