I do still do the odd long journey, did a 45 mile round trip yesterday.

Surely for a 1st car, Insurance is likely to be the major cost per mile at that level of usage ?

I mean in terms of giving the car a run to heat up properly infact I think it was longer as I had more errands to run.

Have you thought of getting a bike or small scooter and using the considerable money saved for fun things like holidays?
