Petrol Spend

  • My car i use about 150 litres a month (LPG), my work vehicle about 2500 litres over 20 days work per month (Diesel).

its all as long as a piece of string, you can only approximate fuel cost on your expected mileage and an estimated mpg depending on what vehicle choice and what fuel choice.
  • Around £600 per month (Diesel), at around an average 50mpg across two vehicles.

    My car, 2012 Golf 1.6 TDI, about £175 a month @ 66mpg.

    Wifies car, 2012 z4 2.0i Turbo, about £120 a month @ 34mpg.

Cut off point for me in terms of spending a comfortable amount on fuel would be £200. Over and above that i'd probably look to change my car to something more economical.

I had an X5 3.0D some years ago and got a promotion so i was putting £400 -£500 a month of diesel through it as the new job role was on a different site @ rougly 27mpg. Changed it in due course to a Passat Bluemotion TDI and got it below £200 a month again.

Conversely in the past i've had local jobs and cheerfully had petrol Subarus, Jags, etc, because i wasnt out a fortune in spend even though the MPG was low.

VW Golf GT 2.0Tdi 140PS. 15 miles each way per day commuting to work; some longer trips for business or pleasure. So I'm filling the tank roughly every 3 weeks, at around £65 a time.

4.5L petrol @ 27mpg and spend between £150 and £250 a month. Rarely commute in it but it varies a lot how far afield we go at weekends etc.

I do around 12,000 miles per year, 75% in the city. Average cost for petrol used is around 20p per mile in a 1.4 car. My daily commute is a 22 mile round trip, and do about 3,000 miles at work - roughly £200 per month on petrol. If I lived 2 miles from work, I'd walk or cycle.

I do about 100 miles a day, 5 days a week. With an occasional 100 mile round trip at the weekend.

    A 1.9TDI Audi A3 - I'm about £300-£340 a month in diesel.
