Hi all...
Last day of July! Has been a tight one for me - but hopefully next month will be a little easier... Found out today I won £25 on a lottery ticket and so I'm all
Present buying is a funny one... I think I commented on this before - but I told my sister that both her children won't get gifts from me every year, just because they have so much stuff... half of it they never play with, and to be honest - it just feels like a waste of money. Instead I'm going to gift them £1000 when they are 18 or 21 which they can put towards driving or Uni.
I'v also told friends and the rest of my family that a) I'm in debt and trying to clear it... and b) not prepared to sink myself further into debt for the sake of a gift. I always get a nice card, and that should be enough. I ask they don't buy in return - if they choose to - well that's up to them. They can't really argue - nor would they really want to know buying stuff was perpetuating my debt.
How to win friends and influence people <not> haha!!!
Right - signing off for July... See you on the other side!!!

lilt and magiccat my parents have the same arrangement in my mum's family. No presents for the adults (they all have kids). I'm in a predicament because I have 4 nephews (in one family), who we never see (live around the corner, literally) and rarely speak to their parents, but I still buy them all presents. I'm thinking of saying before Christmas that we won't do presents anymore as we buy 12 gifts a year for them, they only have to buy 4. I wouldn't mind so much if we saw them but we don't have relationships with them and I'm sure they won't miss the presents.
Today has been another spend day - new phone case, food shopping, passport photos and postage, shoes for upcoming wedding. I think I've spent my August misc budget already
However July's summary:-
SFDs 12/15 - Lost 3 SFDs over the last week due to garden and passport expenses, these should have been amalgamated into one day
Food, misc and petrol budgets - very close to budget for both so very pleased. Think this is my best performance budget wise ever
Exercise 13/13 - pleased with this as most of it has been done in the last 10 days since the holidays started. If I had been at work I never would have made it so I need to get into a routine before the start if the new term.
Tv - will update later but think this is my best achievement by far. I love tv and would have guessed I watch 25+ hours in a normal week.
All in all a good month I think
August is already a different story...LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Today I am grateful for reading about people's successes (abundant) and lottery wins (abundant again!), for ending the month on a NSD, for time with my sister, for fresh raspberries, for internet banking.
So far this year, we have paid £10,700 off the mortgage and put £4900 into savings. Thank you kat!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0 -
Hi all
Apologies for my rubbish check ins this month, its been a busy one.. and an expensive one for that matter!
Only managed 13/15 SFD's which isn't too bad under the circumstances (renovations)! I crashed and burned mid month with the jiggle free July challenge but did well on the cycling to work front and the fuel money saved..
See you in august folks!

interesting chat about presents for other people - that's certainly a hot topic in our house atm, and I like your way of doing it Lilt... might have to suggest that..
So, not a bad end to the month..
• 16/15 SFDs
• £193/£160 food
• 20/20 Exercise
REALLY pleased with the exercise, especially with the duathlon only about 7 weeks away. Did a longer run tonight as the road was closed due to a burst water main and so had to double back on myself!
We will be sitting down and talking figures for August this weekend, but DH came home with the brilliant news that his last paycheck for the job he just finished was a lot more than we expected as they paid him for holiday not taken... yeay! so we plan to buy the things we have been holding off from this weekend (running shoes / bras / work shoes etc) and then try and save as much as we can after that (without sending ourselves mad). So, we both feel a lot better...
right, off to update my sig - I love the end of a month/ start of a fresh shiny new one!
see you all on the other side xLBM Aug 2013 - DEBTS AS OF THEN £25,150  now: £0 :j

Well done apple muncher that is amazing!
I have just updated my figures and I have approximately £45 in my misc budget to last me the rest of the August, and I am off work for the whole month so will be really tempted to spend.
So I need to up my income this month. First plan is that next time I need to go to town, I am going to trade in my old phone for cash. I am also going to sell as much as possible, either by car boot or by eB4y or maybe gumtr33.
I'm off to figure out how to up my income...
See you on the other side.
Sorry forgot to ask - how do you post a picture? My OH did it last time and I don't know what he did!LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Well... I am going to be honest.
Today was a spend day. So I made a grand total of 14 out of 15.
A bit disappointed however, my mum bought four copies of the sun and gave me two.
This was for the morries vouchers so I took her and we used one of voucher each to buy cheap meat.
OH and I had £25 in the holiday pot so we used £15 of that to buy it.
:undecided
Writing off July now. Starting again in August with a clean slate. I am determined to do better.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Hi All
Well finally got to the end of July. My financial budgets have not changed from my last post as I budget from payday to payday. A very mixed month for me but reached my SFD target of 15 and exceeded my exercise budget but don't have the actual total to hand. TV was a major success more so than just not watching it. OH has now accepted that most of what he usually watches is actually c**p :j:j
My meeting at work went really well. More next month when everything has been put into writing as I don't want to tempt fate
See you all on the lovely new thread tomorrow

Hey all, Happy end of Month!
Apologies for my dire contributions to the latter part of this month. I have finally had a quick catch up!
**Hugs** to those going through tough times! Loss, illness and so forth. I think you are all amazing, especially for pushing through what you're going through and still applying mse ways. I completely agree with the need for an outlet of sorts though!
Abundant- Congratulations!! What an achievement!! I like your style with the golden signature!
I'm really seeing August as a fresh start. Really looking forward to rolling my sleeves up and turning my current situation into something superb! (Kat, re: temping agencies, I have not had the best experience with them in the past, I wouldn't completely write them off, but I have a few odd jobs I can do throughout the month to help me out a little- not perfect but better than nothing whilst I apply, apply, interview, apply!)
So my month's round up:
Sfds= 14/15 (doh! So close!)
Exercise= 7/14 sessions (this definitely needs improving!)
Groceries= £98/ £80 (This needs some work, but I suppose hasn't been too excessive as my budget is normally £100)
Fuel= £20/£40 (yay! Under budget!)
See you all for the final countdown! (durr nurr nurrr nurrrr, durrr nurr nurr nurr nurrr! ...You all know you were thinking that in your head's!) :heartsmil:coffee:
