    Hello Contenders..

Nice to see so many of you on the August challenge already!

And I can see some peoples budgets went out the window this month - speaking of which I went to Tesco today and had to stock up on everything as I have been ignoring the shopping for a while now due to be way to tired when I get home...

So after work I hit the gym for back and biceps, then the Dr who told me to buy some cough medicine (haha) and then home to change from push bike outfit to motorbike outfit and hit Tescos - £63 later and I come home feeling like a pack horse...

Shampoo / Conditioner / Shower Gel / Hair Dye / Cough Medicine (£4..?? ) / New Razor on offer / Hair-Spray / Special cat food / Cats balls with bells inside / Dreamies and Weird meat sticks.... all the rest was food...

That's me set up for a few weeks although had to go on the CC I have £24 in cash in my hand that will be going back on the CC...PHEW!

Right now... I gotta snooze. Those 8 hours I got over the last 32 hours is not enough and it's catching up on me...

Good Night all - see you late afternoon tomorrow....

    Morning all,

Spent all of yesterday afternoon on the garden renovations and it's starting to take shape :). No spends on the garden but did treat OH to tea from the fish and chip shop. He has done all the back breaking work and is knackered, bless him. He's even been going to bed at 10 instead of about 1am. So I lost a SFD but it was worth it.

Today should be more of the same. OH is back to work on Wed so need to get as much done as possible today.

I didn't make my gym class last night as I was too tired after moving stones and soil all afternoon but think that counts as an exercise session in itself! I've got a class booked tonight but will see how the gardening goes today.

I too am onto my August budget as I run budgets from payday to payday. I have a huge misc budget this month but need a new passport, have 4 birthdays and have a hen do to attend.

I'm off to try have a little bit more sleep before we start the gardening.

    Hello everyone.

Tuesday. Hmm. Seems a long way from Friday. Hormones and cold which seems to be settling on my chest are turning me into a bit of a misery today.:(

Tiptoes - Hugs, it sounds like you and OH have come to an important decision, and I think you are right - you have to have some spends to get you through. I agree that balance is so hard though - I'm a bit of an all or nothing person, seem to go all out at things, then crash and burn and end up where I started, a balanced moving forward is clearly the key but easier said than done!

Stewby - July has been a bit rubbish for me too so I sympathise! You sound like you really know what works for you though and have got some good plans coming for August - need to think about that myself.

No change for me - yesterday's grocery spends have been added, I need to pay parking for work today but determined not to buy anything else. can this be a NSFD (Nearly Spend Free Day)?! ;)

SFD 8/15 (4 days away spends from holiday budget only)
    Groceries 167.62/160

    Hi folks!

Just a quick check in while I'm supping my Waitrose latte in town.. 2 extra SFD's achieved during night shifts but not enough to achieve the 15 target! :( Have already spent out on more masonry paint this morning and have also booked a hairdressers appointment for tomorrow so its spend spend spend at the moment!

Cant believe this is our last challenge with you Kat! :( We should all meet up for a farewell do :p:p:p

Going to finish the painting this afternoon and take half the garage contents down the dump..

    Have a good day all

Apologies did write a long post over the weekend but somehow it got lost in posting. Very annoying.

    Hope everyone is well.

Liltdiddylilt, thanks for the back sympathy mines on the mend now. Hope you have got yours under control - 5hrs ironing is not going to help it.

Tiptoes - glad you are getting things sorted, grief is hard to come to turns with combined with trying to budget is hell. Had a few weepy days this week combined with bust up with daughters, felt so miserable with backpain - treated myself a wee bit.

Apologies Kat no fitness to report, however now can walk instead of old person hunched waddle. Looking forward to August - got to be better month.

Figures incl today as too wet to go out lunchtime
SFD 18 ( pity I just dont spend less on the other days lol)
Food 120/ 108 not good and my cupboards are empty
Petrol 67.38/40 running on air nearly
Me 150/30 perhaps I have something to wear now oops

Really not a good month, feel so bad reading your tales of budgeting forget who it was cutting mould off bread, really brought the message home. Feel so much better that few others have found this month difficult, Stewby and Magic Cat solidarity on the naughty step

August no birthdays phew as this month has been a heavy one, no treats for me. Not doing food shop until my cupboards are organised and I find out what is in there. Had problems getting down to them with dodgy back.

Kat is testing her 9 lives with this cycling thing. Not for me esp pedal clips your mad !!!

Ah the shame/pride complex. It was ME cutting mould off bread... I didn't feed it to Jellytot just so you know folks. I bought her a nice shiny new loaf. And I didn't get food poisoning or anything... :D and I still didn't keep myself under budget you know so don't feel bad. I am a terrible spender and have just employed the (free) services of Greying Pilgrim to help me clear out my endless store cupboards full of 'rabbit food' so that I can cut another £50 off budget for the month of August. Oh why couldn't it be February.. :rotfl:

I've done 5 miles walking today to go for a pootle around the local industrial park/shopping park. There isn't much there, but we went to B&Q and bought Him a desk lamp (£9.98) and then off to home bargains where various little bits of mainly the chocolate variety were bought. I didn't even take my purse with me so none of the spends were mine! Still not classing today as an SFD though as the items bought will benefit me (mmmm Twix). I also went to say hello to baby rabbits, fish and bearded dragons in pets @ home. :D

Came home, watched a recording of UFC, had a little snooze & told off the man next door for dumping the tree bits he is chopping down onto my (communal) garden. In front of big burly builders and roofers working on his place. He didn't say a word to me, just started pulling it all back over. WIN!

All these folks on bikes, why do you do it?! My bum hurts, I get twice as wet in the rain, cars clip me, I sweat in weird places and I am usually so wobbly when I climb off it takes a while to walk in the right direction. I'm not allowed to do it any more, but even still... :D lol.

As for my back Calling... a few more powerful pills and it is starting to come out of it's acute phase. I broke it when I was a kid, and my disks are giving up 1 by 1 now in protest at all that damage. It will be much better when I don't have a terrible 2 year old demanding to be picked up permanently!

Just so you know I have just got back from the City Farm that is right by my work place. I go there purely for the bunnies, the llamas, the hosses, the massive pigs and the really friendly goats... glad I am not the only loony that's made happy by creatures of the four legged variety...:D:D:D

I was bought an annual pass to the local zoo by my in-laws for my birthday Kat. I LOVE animals :D and they unfailingly make me happy! City farm sounds awesome!!! I love the pygmy goats at the wildlife park I also frequent. They remind me of that video about the fainting goats everytime they get fed... :D

I'm going to Woburn Safari park on Sunday!!! :T:T:T My friend said they will bring a tranquilizer gun to shoot me incase I get too excited! :D I'm gonna get me a baby giraffe and stuff it in the car....;-)

Have you seen the YouTube vid about the screaming goats..? Or the bouncing Llama? Or the dog that sounds like a siren? Or the barking cat?

This could go on a bit.....; - ).....although they also make me very happy.
