I doubt that West London is going to work, full stop. Both London Bridge and Hoxton are in the East, and Hoxton is not particularly easy to get to by public transport - with limited choices of both bus & train.
  • We're currently moving from Sydenham to Hither Green. Hither Green station to London Bridge is all of 10 mins, but the slow trains stop at New Cross for an easy connection to the ELL for Hoxton. Substantially cheaper than Stepney and a fair bit cheaper than Brockley too.

Yes, I suppose that route opens up other places further afield, and a bit cheaper still, like Eltham, Welling & Sidcup.

We've just moved to Purley. Lovely area. Green spaces and big houses, but still has a London feel and still gets the London buses, night buses etc.

    Twenty minutes to London Bridge.
  • BTW I forgot to thank everybody who responded to this thread! You guys are great, and very helpful.

We ended up moving to Clapton Pond, which I was sceptical about but it is actually really nice and we got a bit of a bargain. Woo!

    Thanks again everyone!
