you cant count time spent doing things for the kids!
the CA would be for the parents care, not cooking, cleaning and washimng for 2 almost adults!
I understand completely what you mean and i agree with you. These kids are very lazy, they wont even walk to the shop for their grandparents and they arent made to either cos they feel sorry for them because of the bad life theyve had wit
    h their Mum...
The youngest is at high school and the oldest sleeps all day although she has just finished college and is looking at taking on a full time apprenticeship...eldest was asked to be a carer for her grandparents-she said no..

The kids are 18 and 14 so i can't imagine any help will be needed in the holidays...at their age they should be helping around the house anyway...they can both do some cooking, cleaning and stick the washing in the machine and pop to the shops when needed.
I never mentioned their ages so how do u kbow how old they are? Unless youve read previous posts that ive written...
I think its going to be a case of just me being carer for them anyway as my SIL is thinking of increasing her work hours anyway

Thanks red i might just do that later...
I cant exactly go up and cook and clean for the inlaws and not the kids-my MIL would not allow it. No i dont clean their rooms, thats down to them but im not going to stand there cooking for the inlaws and not the kids. If i was ever incapable of doing things and someone was my carer then they would have to help with my kids needs too, they would have to do the tasks id normally do for them because id not be able to do it. Isnt that what a carer does? They wouldnt just look after me and then think **** the kids!
my MIL has been good to those kids, too soft admittedly and weve tild them about it

and i know these kids are oldef but they are trying to make a life for themselves too, they cant be expected to be at their grandparents beck and call all the time when were here to help yes they should help more but they are still kids whove had a s**t life up until living with their nan and they are doing really well now in school etc and believe me theres nothing round here for them so let them go make something good out of their lives while theyre still young enough to do it

The legal loopholes are really baffling me! Hoe can two people be so poorly they require 70 hours of care between them yet be deemed fit enough to look after a 14 yo who doesn't do much around the house?

because her Dad has residency order but they chose to live with their nan for school and friends etc as they didnt want to move out of the area and have to start again.
Like i said, its looking likely that ill be the only caret now anyway

Im severely disabled and in a powerchair full time etc, I need lots of help to do most things.

My husband is very ill, he has had a stroke, he has heart failure and kidney failure among other things, he has memory problems due to the blood clot that remains in his brain and he needs lots of reminders and watching over to keep him safe but he is physically much stronger than me so he can help me tranfer from the bed to powerchair or hoist me into the car etc. so we care for each other all day everyday as we promised when we said our vows to each other.

We do not claim any carers allowance for each other or expect monatory rewards for looking after each other, its what you do and I wouldnt feel right claiming for looking after him and he feels the same way.

We are lucky in a way, our disabilities allow us to help each other, if things were diffrent we would struggle.
