Suppose that I decided to write a bit. Where would you suggest that I publish stuff these days in order to maximise earnings? How should I go about it?neverdespairgirl wrote: »hubpages

I'd have agreed .... but things have changed and I'd not recommend it to a starter now. Lots of change in the last month and now Google's doing a dance again. Long-winded, difficult learning curve, rules, complications .... it would no longer be my suggested entry point.0 -
So, not hubpages. What would you suggest as an entry point? For someone who has never done it before? I gather that I should not give up the day job just yet, though.

I found this link. Does that make any sense?
I notice that two of the links in that article are affiliate links and two are not. Why would that be? I did not realise that you need to set up your own affiliate links. I expected that these sites would do that for you and share the revenue. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Hard to say .... every site's different, everybody's writing expectations and subjects are different. I don't have the confidence to make recommendations to people about anything....
this is what I do - I don't get great results most of the time... and the sites are forever changing/closing etc.
What do you hope to get out of it? Maybe do what mewbs did and start a blogspot blog of your own, write stuff there .... then learn how to add in affiliate links and adverts.
Once you've got something of your own.... then try writing sites as a method of driving traffic to your blogspot.
Each one takes time to work out/build up. I've been dabbling with DailyTwoCents.... had every article rejected at Wizzly, I write for Hubpages and get OK results (now, but it was dire) .... moving playing fields all the time.0 -

We stared at each other for about 5 seconds.... then I stomped a foot and he ran off....

They're really chewing up the ground/grass by the shed though. Digging little holes ....
You are sure they are furries? Could they be moles?I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Kiwi ran through a whole load of cleavers this afternoon, velcroing his own ears to is head in symetrical curled victory rolls. After laughing the realisation we had to pick out all the biddybids he was covered in sank in. Took a LONG time.
We're also wondering how to move the olive tree and indeed, if it will fit through the gate.0 -
What a beautiful day today was.
We watched DS team play rugby this morning. He couldn't play as he ripped his ear in his school match yesterday. We then went for lunch by the canal, in the sunshine.
Managed to get four photos of the house for the for sale pictures today. Trying to get the house ready is like painting the Forth Bridge. I hope to manage the rest tomorrow. The back garden is good to go but I just missed the sun.
No car for me tomorrow or I'd go back to the canal with the doglets. Have tea on the little chairs with the blankets. It'll be lunch from the mini Tesco, unfortunately.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I have this theory that the unusually good weather is good both for the British psyche and the economy. We are not grumbling through rain and hunching against cold instead we are out getting fresh air and enjoying spending money on long days that last into the evening.
We went to Legoland today, it was heaving but we were still able to sit out at lunchtime and watch the pirates show (in the shade, luckily the trees are still fully clothed as the sun was hot) and were fine in t-shirts at 6.45 as we stumbled out of the park. The car even didn't break down and it was warm enough that we could have the window open against the smoky smell - new exhaust part is coming from Germany this week for 110, in the UK the only supplier is fiat - £400 for an exhaust midsection that is normally 30-100 on most cars.I think....0 -
Isaac, Kermie and I spent the weekend in Kent, at my parents' place, and had a lovely time. The weather was glorious, and we stripped 8 apple trees, picked 22lb of crab apples, 28 quinces, 35 lb of sloes, lots of tomatoes, runner beans, French beans, squashes, chillis, courgettes and so forth. Kermie helped with some of it, from the sling, and had cuddles with Granny and both aunties when he might have got branches in the back of his head.
The insane large white cat picked a fight with a fox last week - and the fox legged it. Cue one smug moggy. I can't help feeling that discretion might have been the better part of valour, there....
It was really lovely. Golden sunshine, warm air, dressed in T-shirts and sandals, it was fab....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
