All this talk of Scotland divorcing England and it's right to choose to leave a marriage, does that mean we don't have to take it back if it can't make a go of it alone.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. If you lot could oblige, watch it and vote for the big bubbly brummy so she stays in long enough, we might get some tickets to go and watch her do dancing.
I'm suspicious of the word "bubbly". It usually means, "empty-headed and very noisy". I assume you mean something else?
I've never watched the programme, sadly.Actually, I watched it for a few minutes as I promised a friend I would. Never again - wanted to throw things at him and the TV! I thought he came across as an arrogant person with an over-inflated idea of his own importance
He's a barrister - what exactly were you expecting? Shy, retiring, wallflower like?James goes back this weekend, a little earlier as he is going to be an SR this year...which also means no student let, back into halls again.
SR? Whassat?I can see that with very hot jam put into pots and sealed whilst still very hot, there's very little chance of bacteria or fungus growing. Even if it is not all entirely sterile to begin with. I would've thought with the cold jam it would be really hard to make it sterile enough in an ordinary domestic kitchen.
When I make jam or jelly, I put very, very hot liquid into very hot jars, and put a wax circle on immediately. I've not had any go mouldy on me yet <touches wood>...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
SR = senior resident in the halls. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Happy belated Fathers Day gen.
I suggest you try to teach the kids better traditional swearwords.
If the filter here doesn't censor them teach them - I'd recommend
Marry! I'faith! 'Sblood! 'Sbody! 'sheart! Egad!
Tell them they're proper British swearwords and they're the only ones they should use. It's the apostrophe at the start that makes them especially bad.
Couldn't agree more! You could add "God's Wounds!" or "S'wounds!" as well?Doozergirl wrote: »Glass of bubbly, too and a grubby doozergirl for measure. Lots of my favourite things and good thoughts and love and strength for you.
"Grubby" shows a proper attitude to life in small people, I think. She's lovely and wonderful, you must be very proud of her.lostinrates wrote: »Silly ringlets are my look.
I don't own a hair-dryer. I have dead straight hair - not curl-able, really, it's so very soft and fine it slips out of curls, hair clips, everything. Rubbish for doing hair styles, but it does feel very soft and silky.lostinrates wrote: »I see no problem with kermie. ( shrugs) people have nicknames all the time. He does have a "proper" name too, so he won't go through life being called Kermie for official purposes!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

You couldn't be more wrong, Maggie. No mushroom is remotely edible, honestly.Got some good news, though. DS got a GCSE re-marked and went up a grade. Which means he's just got one to retake, so can start a full-time level 3 course tomorrow, instead of a worrying mix of level 2/level 3 stuff.
Great news - hope he's pleased?chewmylegoff wrote: »I'm just wondering if we can get rid of Wales and NI as well.
Hi Dad!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Phew! A frantic few days to make the most of it before Isaac is re-incarcerated in his place of learning. So we went to the 'rents in Kent last week for a few days of grandparental activity. Kermie decided to make the most of it by teething and generally being a bit of a grump, but < touch wood> at least colic's mostly behind him.
We did lots of picking - blackberries, apples, crabapples, sloes (not as ripe yet as perhaps they might be), damsons, runner beans, weird red beans, and spuds. And I took the boys to a Medieval Fair at Rochester Castle, which they loved.
Yesterday, Isaac and I abandoned Kermie, and spent the day at Chessington World of Adventures, and as most other infants are already back at school, we had the place almost to ourselves. Not a single queue! We got to stay on rides and go again straight away. I love roller coasters and leaving your stomach at the top of rides and so forth - so does Isaac. OH views us with polite puzzlement.
OH and his brother are off tomorrow for a couple of days' walking and camping in Dartmoor.
Kermie's getting more interesting - less just completely passive baby, less only concerned with his tummy. He turns his head to see when he hears a familiar voice (particularly mine, but also OH's, Isaac's, Sam's, and my parents') and laughs and chuckles at things. He still has an absolute fascination with lights and lightbulbs, but we all need a hobby.

Bizarrely, many tout it as a good trait!! Even employers want that sort .... which is probably why a lot of workers drive me mad - because they're loud and useless0
