I've been given an ultimatum to get rid of my mini by January at the latest and buy something more practical that we can fit things in. I am not pleased.
Is this an announcement? I hope so.0 -
Well, I don't know why but we cannot seem to get a local roofer to come and do fixing/repairs to main bloody roof.
.
If we weren't planing to put a dormer in there in the future I'd be wondering if we we were better to get the whole thing re done like the other roof now.. The attic is full of buckets.

I was marvelling this morning at the FIVE TV points with socket alongside that are here in a 2 bed. FIVE!! All that and just one portable telly owned.
For many years we only had one TV socket. On getting a second TV we had a new ariel installed an extra socket and a long cable run through into our bedroom to enable a future socket TV.
Earlier this year OH came across the cable and tidied it up. He has cut it off, flush with the window where it enters the bedroom.

You could put the dormer in ready, without doing the rest?
I know you have PP but you could always replace the standard roof and extend somewhere else later - it might be easier and less expensive on the ground, given the condition of the buildingEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Fingers crossed for the results!

We plan to do it all, eventually.
Not a fair question, but how much do you estimate a dormer might cost, ball park? Roof? Gulp?
We're going to have to get a bat licence too, I guess.0 -

One of my favourite Aussie stats: nobody in NSW in the last decade has died in an accidental house fire which had a working smoke detector in it.
My other is never drive further than 8km to buy a Powerball lotto ticket. If you do you are more likely to die in a car smash on the way than you are to win the jackpot.
There's a $90-100 million jackpot tonight/tomorrow. The queues to buy tickets are massive.0 -

When I said dormer I meant probably end up replacing the whole roof with a dormer in it.. Dormers aren't particularly expensive in a regular house (probably a couple of thousand on mine) but your house is special and one needs something of a solid structure to attach it to, which is hopeful, at best.
Have the roofers been out to look, even?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Or a trailer?
Or get someone else to pick up the rellies??0 -
Oh dear.... next door's having a conservatory built.... obviously not concerned that permitted dev's removed and you need full PP .... and the guy's just started.
OK, I can accept he's parked his tipper/van "on moi land", blocking me in - no problem.
OK, I can accept he'll make some initial noise, knocking the current patio slabs out of place .... no problem.
But why oh why oh why oh why ..... does he find it necessary to have a piggin' radio on???0
