Thanks jelly and everyone else. Will sort out tomorrow. Appreciate all of your thoughts. Sometimes it's hard to see the wood for the trees and you've provided clarity. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I've just seen a very inspirational German female athlete win gold in the steeplechase after battling lymphatic cancer, Antje Moldner-!!!!!!!. Amazing run. I have every faith that you'll get your Ventoux strength back.
Cheers viva. As each day goes past I feel a little stronger.0 -

Legally, you have no interest in whether it's done or not. They are quite entitled to pocket the cheque and leave the scratch.
If you decide that it does matter, what happens if you pay, they don't get the work done and tell you to get lost? What do you do then?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Sometimes they don't really seem to have a plan for the money - presumably because they don't want it.
There was someone on last week who is a friend of a friend whom I met in a pub about 5 or 6 years ago. I think he fell into this category - seems to be very pleased with how much business it has drummed up going by social media blitherings anyway.
I've thought that with a few of them this time tbh. The guys with that cider 'home brew' stuff that you just added water to. And the personalised childrens' books. With both of them I though the publicity was clearly the objective, don't really need the money.
The thing that annoys me with it now is the editing, or I put it down to the editing, where someone will come along with a seemingly good business and they'll say 'Ah, but what is the return on your investmenet projected to be in year three? And what if you were to issue 50,000 irredeemable preference shares in the previous year, how would that affect the balance sheet and your cost of capital going forward? You don't know... well, you should know this stuff! I can't go into business with you.'
Then the next person comes along and it's 'Kittens on pogosticks??!! I'm in!' No questions asked.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

I don't really care what the label says, I'm fussy about the fit though (and an awkward shape for jeans - well, for many clothes). 'M+S jeans' did make me think of my mum's jeans with an elasticated waistband thought
. Though I can now see the advantages, I'm not sure I'm ready to give in to that yet.
I hate clothes shopping. Especially when it's for something specific.
If you find a pair that you like, that fit well, etc, buy several. Then the agony is over.
Sister #1 was talking last Christmas about how hard she found it to buy jeans - she has incredibly long legs even for her height (5 ft 8, she's all leg and short body) and is very slim indeed.
We were listening, and then Mum said, "I'm really trying to feel sympathy, honestly....."I feel your wardrobe pain Lydia.
I need some enough outfits to not get caught wearing the same things too many times in a week. It's for something I've never been to before, but it sounds like everyone dresses quite formally (someone I've never seen wearing a suit is talking about wearing a tie...). I've not been told to dress smart, so I'm guessing I'm generally passable (or that it's felt it's not worth trying!). Doubt there will be the chance to emergency shop during the week in question.
Am in the Big Smoke on Saturday before a wedding, so I think that instead of wafting round Tate Modern looking intelligent, I'll be running around trying to find a decent pair of jeans and getting depressed.
One thing I like about my job's dress code - I'm supposed to look pretty much the same every day. It's like the benefits of school uniform, no decisions to make (although a bit more expensive, and no laundry fairy does the washing any more).
I'd have suggested a quick cuppa at the weekend, but sadly, we're out of town. We're going away for a week from Friday. That was a bargain. I had smoked haddock for breakfast this morning it was about half a kilo and cost £7. I poached it in milk, and had it with HM seeded bread. Then the dog had the leftover milk. Fishy milk is his favourite.
Our cod was very nice, and the smoked haddock will become fishcakes.
When Waitrose start discounting things, they go for it, no 20p off here and there....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Meant to say - OH came back this afternoon, and was apparently quite surprised to find us making gingerbread men dough and dancing in the kitchen, with 80s pop classics playing loudly. He doubted our explanation that the singing and dancing was purely to amuse Kermie while we were cooking, I think he thought we were nuts.
This was the boys curled up together on the sofa this morning before they could be bothered to get dressed. Kermie finds Isaac fascinating:LIR, your hamster sounds really sensible. Where better to hide in a house full of large creatures with teeth and claws?
NDG, sorry about Bertha. What sort of dog was she?
She was a cross between a Miniature Pinscher and a Norfolk Terrier. Tiny, brown, determined and active. She thought she was the same size as the collies, and spent a lot of the time pushing them around bossily:lostinrates wrote: »This is what people fail to understand about 'get orf my land ' stereotype. Someone's might have been foraging for berries.
I think the "berries" explanation is quite likely - there are loads of both blackberries and sloes in the hedges in that fields. But picking them is one thing, leaving the gate open is another. Why find a closed gate and not close it yourself later?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
