!!!!!! is link detatched?
There are houses near us known as link-detached. The garages join one house to the next, but also the room behind the garage and two of the upstairs bedrooms. So really they are terraced, but in the decades we have lived in the area no-one has dared describe them as such.

Some of them are single. They buy non- perishable goods when on some deal in enough quantities to keep them going for 20 years, they make some of their purchases into gift boxes to give to friends instead of presents, some do deals with mates to sell stuff on at a profit, others car boot stuff.
There is a whole industry going on in that thread - about time they got taxed!
Tesco DTD and asda glitching and wombling...those were the days....I think....0 -

When it's time for westie's evening meal, we say 'dinner time!' and then he runs to his bowl and pokes his nose in it as to say "put it here! put it here!"I ask the dogs where their leads are. Cue mayhem

So ... that was £8 of this mythical saving .... and a thing I've [a] never bought at £6 each will never buy.
The saving is not mythical. She likes the stuff and wants to buy it. Just because not everybody wants to buy the stuff doesn't make it any less of a saving for her.
This is part of the reason why the effort required would not be worth the saving for me. I want to buy the things I want to buy when I want to buy them. Big savings are usually only available on things I don't want to buy, or don't want to buy now. If I notice available savings, I take advantage of them. Otherwise, I just get on with my life.
Now, having different bank accounts and shuffling money between them to have enough "income" passing through to qualify for extra interest or rewards - that's different. Making sure I use the right CC for different kinds of spends to maximise cashback/reward, similarly. For me, those are very little effort and bring in a small amount of gratifyingly "free" money. But that's just me.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

The only non-perishable item I have in stock for > 1 year is toilet paper. A while ago, there was a deal on Velvet in the Coop - that nice thick quilted paper- so I bought 10x9 rolls of those. That will definitely last us until spring '16.

Definitely terraced. There shouldn't be any habitable space adjoining any of the other house's habitable space.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? It's amazing how they know words.
We can't talk freely anymore in fear of mentioning a 'trigger' word.
So we say things like "what's for D tonight?" or "let's go for a W after eight" just to avoid 'dinner' or 'walk'
I know, it's silly....0 -
My Dad can't even shift in his chair without the dogs shooting off down the hallway if the collies feel they've not had enough walks recently.
My mother's found recently that as she usually goes to the loo before taking the dogs out, any trip towards the downstairs loo by her also sets off a dash for the door....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
7 quid of till spit, 4 of cashback, 23p litre say 12 quid petrol saving and voucher for 15 off 40 next week. Of the 40 odd that was food spend at least 75% was special offer (half price, bogof etc) or yellow sticker. I don't go shopping with a list I just buy x meals of food whatever is good value.
Those petrol vouchers would be useless for me. I don't spend enough to get them ... and I don't use much fuel, I fill up about 5-6x a year.
All these things have criteria and limits and minimums.... makes it too hard to get it right.
I just checked and the Tesco petrol station is 1-2p/litre more expensive than the one I currently use and others closer.0 -

Ah, I am single/alone, without use for extra things to buy and nobody to flog it to.
Car booting's an amusing twist. They should be taxed if they buy to sell... although it sounds like a bit of an odd stall to set out. By the time they've paid £3-5 fuel and £5 for their pitch .... makes you wonder if it's worth it though. Most people don't want to pay more than pennies for car boot stuff.0
