DH has gone to see Monty Python at O2 tonight. He called me in the interval and I asked how it was so far "a bit weird but fun" came the reply. Which sums up MP nicely I think.

Apparently it's being shown on TV this weekend if anyone is interested.

    In pot - chilli
I bought a pot to grow chillies last September.... today I read the instructions and it says the pot starts them, but then you need to plant them into other pots... bit of a nuisance, I thought the pot was it ...

So, I followed the destructions anyway and there's a pot that might, or might not, grow some chillies in the next few weeks.

    :)

    Ooooohhh.... I can quote again.

I know I can't see you, but I detect a spring in your step since you moved house Pastures. It's lovely to see.

I've been meaning to tell you this for ages. You know that watermelon salad? Nigella's version is really good. Vastly better than mine ( but she adds olive oil dressing which I do not, I find it better with out) its googleable. The only faff is if you are having it for supper weekday you would want to slice red onions and leave in lime juice in the morning before work. The lime juice addition is superb. I dislike raw onions often , but this trick makes them totally morish.

If you cannot find recipe via google yell, I'll get it for you.

Well ... we'll see. I only started the chilli pot as I'm going through "boxes, clutter and stuff" and it was there ... and as I'd bought it I thought I'd better do something with it :)

It cost me 19p from a cheap stuff shop.

Don't know what's going on, but have lost my ability to quote.

So to lir: I don't recall the little carriages in this country, but have travelled in them on the continent, most recently in Italy about 2 years ago.

To silver: similar situation here. We're a little further out but not much. Hence tend to use the N London tubes quite extensively, normally picking which one to travel in from depending on the links to where we're going further down the line. So to Royal Albert Hall we go to Stanmore - Jub Line all the way to Green Park then on the no. 9 bus. It's not so much worth doing this if travelling alone, but when we go as a couple it definitely is.

To Nikks: that's not a courgette, but a marrow, surely?

Try scrolling to the right - the lady holding the block of butter is rather large!

I think it's still a courgette. Just. Whatever it might classify itself as I'll be parading it at work tomorrow, then eating it for dinner :D

The Met line was so much better with the new trains on it. Still hated travelling it every morning and night though. So pleased I'm not doing that any more!

Thanks for the explanation. So does this mean that they all agreed to the level of compensation that should be paid?

    Yes

I am pleasantly surprised with the sensible way they have operated.

Well, it took four and a half years before any of them was willing to begin talking about settling out of court, and then it was only because they realised how big a difference it would make to my costs - which they will be paying. Originally the inquest was predicted to be 6 weeks. If we'd had that, and then had to thrash the level of compensation out in court rather than in a cosy little meeting, my costs were estimated to end up at about 150% of the value of my claim. That was what motivated them to start talking about settling. Well, and one particular lot got new solicitors, who had a completely different attitude from the previous sols.

It did that to me too, for a while. It seemed to happen at the same time as when the page went uber-wide because of Hamish's ginormous photo. I reset my options to fixed width instead of stretchy and it seemed to help. I'm off to set them back to stretchy now we're on a new page. I wish there was an option for "stretch it to the width of my screen like on the stretchy option, please, but resize photos to be the same width as the text like on the fixed width option".

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

It's probably because she's not living in a dark, dark flat being overshadowed by trees, overlooked by neighbours and on constant alert for approaching landlords :(

It is indeed lovely :) Long may it continue! :j

Thanks lir, I will be able to find it, because if not googleable, then we have most Nigella cookbooks in the library's collection so I'll be able to track it down.

I love the watermelon salad that you did, and it just so happens that I have a watermelon in at the moment.

Really kind of you to think of me.
