Stupid mistake

I'm a single mum of 2 that works part time. I recently got several catalogues out in my uncles name using my address but with all of his details, his name, d.o.b, and said I used to live at his address he still lives in now. He has an amazing job with great money. I needed a mew washing machine so I used his details when he got accepted I just got carried away and done more and more catalogues. I'm paying for everything I have ordered though. So basically, will he find out and will it damage his credit score and will it come out it was me? It was a stupid mistake on my behalf I feel terrible.

If he looks up his credit score he will find out. If he goes for a new loan himself or for a mortgage yes...his affordability will be called into question.

You need to be honest with him asap. You obviously know you have done the wrong thing so please do the right thing now - good luck x

I agree with ellesbelles, come clean as soon as you can and clear any outstanding debt you have in his name.

You need to tell him what you've done ASAP, and pay everything off straight away. Even if you can't afford to pay it off, you need to pay it off, even if that means putting yourself into debt. If you don't tell him now, and it gets investigated, you could be in a hell of a lot more trouble.
Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.

What does the fact he has an amazing Job with great moneyake any difference. You have committed Fraud, id be honest as possible, what a breach of trust, id be reporting you to the police.

You should feel bad as what you've done is committed fraud and you'd be in trouble if this was discovered or reported. Come clean with him.

He doesn't have a credit score, so that isn't affected. But you've probably created a linked address on his report or if/when he applies for credit in future and declares he has been at his current address for x number of years, it could flag up as inconsistent with previous applications and trigger a fraud marker.

Steady on! The police. I don't think so.

It's highly likely your uncle doesn't even know that CRAs exist. Most adults don't. Only if he coughs up money to see information about himself (and you, in this case) will he find out anything. You must, however, pay off the catalogues and close the accounts. That will minimise the risk of him being refused credit.

You could tell him about what you've done, but if you pay everything off immediately, in time the potential problem will go away.

And yet if he does happen to check his reports, say he gets refused for credit elsewhere and is wondering why, then he'll see these catalogues, they'll be investigated and OP could be in a lot of trouble, yes with the police.

You may consider it a minor misdemeanour, but OP is breaking criminal law, which means being prosecuted by the crown rather than by the person you've committed the act against. OP would be best off paying it off, telling the uncle and apologising again and again. Hopefully OP and the uncle are close and he'll forgive OP.

There is that risk. Only the OP can assess whether or not it makes sense to tell the uncle. For instance, the uncle might be the sort of person who takes no quarter (the sort of person who hangs around here), so it may be prudent to hope the problem goes away. As I say, only the OP can assess that.

If he's a decent bloke..he will forgive you in time. He'll probably be more angry because you did come to him in the 1st place and explain your problems to him. He may have even lent you the money for a new washing machine. Did you not think to ask?

Interesting...my first thought was more - What does being a single mother have to do with this?
